SykkBoy 08-16-2003 11:45 PM

two words: fucking ruled :)

I'll avoid spoilers, but I'll just say: great throwback to the 80's horror movies (nudity and gore, oh yeah), great kills, decent humor, a valentine to Freddy and Jason fans (a SHITLOAD of in-jokes and winks to the rest of the series), a very satisfying ending and the promised battle: amazing, we're talking Wrestlemania PPV.

I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

there was one downside: the "gentleman" seated next to me smelled like a french cab driver licking the asshole of a dead skunk next to a shit pond full of gouda cheese......this guy could have rubbed up against a homeless man and it would have been like me splashing on some old spice...

was fucking awesome,

it had all the elements that made the originals great,

hot chicks, big tities, gore, humor, pot, beer, freed,y and jason,

it was awesome,

PS I did not sit next to a smelly guy,

I was sitting next to black people,

and they were like yelling at the movie making shooting nosises and saying stuff like, OH SHIT out loud, and kill that mother fucker,

you know there behavior kinda made the movie more fun,

and it had a great ending and people were chearing adn laughing and talking and smilling,

all in all, its the funest movie I saw all summer,

evildick 08-17-2003 07:19 AM

Sweet, I'm leaving to see it in a couple hours.

evildick 08-17-2003 07:31 AM

Would they throw me out of the theater if I brought a 12 year old kid to see this? My son wants to watch it, but I don't want to come across as a crackhead by letting him watch it, if it's too "obscene" for a kid.

He could probably handle it. I wouldn't take my son because he's 8. My kids have seen movies like The Ring, Evil Dead, Childs Play, etc. but usually on video/television so I can watch with them and change the channel if it gets too scary. The main things I keep them from are excessive nudity and profanity. This may have been a littlwe scary for them.

BigFish 08-17-2003 11:52 AM

It's really good but it sucks.

evildick 08-17-2003 07:48 PM

I just wanted to bump this to say the movie was amazing, for anyone that was trying to decide whether or not to go. Anyone that says they didn't like it either never seen it, or are not slasher movie fans.

I'd say it was the best one out of all the movies in both series combined.

a friend invited me to go see it Tuesday, so I'm definitely going to go see it again.

How about that opening weekend? Estimated at over $37 million for the weekend. The bad side of that, we'll be stuck with a shitload of crappy Vs. movies....

I think horror movies must be making a comeback. They showed trailers for a whole bunch of them at the beginning that looked pretty sweet.

Did you see the preview for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake? Kind of silly to remake a classic like that, but it still looks great. Leatherface is back!

Yeah, hopefully this will bring back good, R-rated horror movies and end this trend of lame, bloodless, scareless horror movies featuring the cast from the WB and UPN shows. I totally hate the idea of re-making a classic such as TCM, especially with Micheal bay producing. The trailer did look pretty good though. I loved the subtle nods to the original 'Saw trailer. I wonder if John Laroquette will be back as the nararator in this one? He needs the work anyways right? ;-)

I'm not too keen on Jessica Beal being in the movie, but with R. Lee Ermey, it can't be all bad...now, if she was in an extended shower scene complete with masturbation with a soap on a rope that ended with a chainsaw gutting, I might feel better about her being in it...

"Underworld" is a movie I've been looking forward to for a long time. Some people have reported seeing the "Jeepers Creepers 2" trailer before FvJ but that wasn't the case in the theater I saw it in. I'm looking forward to that flick too.

"House Of The Dead" trailer looked pretty good, but I'm not big on video-game based horror movies.

evildick 08-17-2003 08:19 PM

I won't shed a tear if they never make another "teen" horror movie. They should have stopped at Scream.

They played the Jeepers Creepers 2 trailer at the theater I went to. I liked the first one and this one looks pretty cool too.

House of the Dead could have major suck potential since it's based on a video game, but they made it look awesome in the preview. Looks like they might go overboard on Matrix style effects though.

I actually enjoyed the Resident Evil movie they made, even though I was expecting it to suck major ass.

SykkBoy 08-17-2003 09:12 PM

Same here, the first "Scream" was pretty good, but what it was responsible for hurt to think about.

With "Resident Evil" I had pretty low expectations and was presently surprised.

I noticed a lot of Matrix style type stuff in both the House of The Dead and Underworld trailers...yikes

That was the refreshing thing, IMHO, about FvJ was the use physical effects and not an over-reliance on CGI.

Ha ha ha, I just saw the movie tonight and I brought my 11 year old son because he was dying to see it. Heck, there were kids younger than him there, they looked about 9.

The only thing about the movie that isn't good for kids are the titty scenes, there were a couple of those :Graucho

Slick 08-17-2003 09:22 PM

Oh yeah, I thought that the movie was great. I think that if you're a Freddy and Jason fan, there'd be no way that you couldn't enjoy this flick.

Strife 08-17-2003 09:45 PM

It was pretty much what I was expecting so I wasn't disappointed. If your a fan of the series than you'll enjoy it.
If your not a fan of freddy or jason than you'll probably be wasting your money.

There were some young kids in the theater..I personally would never bring kids to watch a movie like this...

Can wait for Underworld, it looks pretty cool.

see . . . now that's amusing, the titty scenes are the "BAD" thing for a a kid to see but the viloence and gore are "OK".
only in the US of A

GeXus 08-17-2003 09:56 PM

I thought it was good.. except for the fact that freddy got killed in the end.. basically the whole movie you wonder who it will be, and you think it will be jason (with all the twists).. but no.. it was freddy!

:glugglug

ok.. j/k, i havent seen it yet

I'm the same way. My 6 year old daughter's favorite movie is "Evil Dead".

To her it's the equivelant of a cartoon since the gore is too over the top. I generally won't take my kids to a horror movie in a theater (especially an R-rated one) since if a movie is too scary for them on video, I can stop the tape or DVD. It's also easier to comfort them at home if they get scared. They never watch a horror movie alone. I always try to be there and be mindful of certain elements that might scare them more than others.

In this movie, I would have been more concerned about the profanity than the two brief scenes of nudity.

SexxxyChat-T 08-17-2003 11:09 PM

The movie was pretty good for the genre.

I didn't have to sit next to any stinkers, but the theater was full of fuckasses who kept yelling shit out.

1 letdown in the movie though... the main girl, has these great looking breasts THAT YOU NEVER GET TO SEE!! :(

I thought they were just saving them for the end... but no...

At least the Freddy vs Jason fights were sweet

Worth seeing it at matinee price :thumbsup

yeah, she had an amazing rack

...and sadly, the other chick with the amazing rack (the actress who was also in Ginger Snaps) used a body double for her shower scene :(

lots of nudity eh

imafuckingaussie 08-18-2003 12:29 AM

I'm looking forward to it opening in Australia.

My favourite versions were Friday 13th one and the first freddy film, some of the later friday films got pretty bad, I cant remember the one exactly, but it was a real shocker.

looking forward to it now, thanks guys !

Evil Dead one rules by the way, the true slasher crown IMHO!

Rictor 08-18-2003 12:43 AM

I saw it at the drive-in earlier tonight. I thought it was funny. And there's some naked boobies.

Rictor 08-18-2003 12:45 AM

There were a ton of little kids at the drive in with their parents. I guess the movie wasn't that bad...but I wouldn't recommend it for elementary aged kids. What's really bad...is I went to see American Wedding a couple weeks ago and it was full of parents with elementary age kids as well. Those movies definitely aren't for children.

nazgul 08-18-2003 12:47 AM

I just got back from it, and I thought it was fucking awesome. Granted the plot isn't the greatest, there is bad acting, and there is a bit too much talking. However, in the grand scheme of things the violenece and boobie shots make up for it. I mean it is a horror film, what do you expect? If you go in with out expecting too much you will love it.

The battles are cool, and the audince was cheering, there is always something to be said for that.

The nine

michaelw 08-18-2003 10:07 PM

gonna go see it tomorrow

Doctor Dre 08-18-2003 11:15 PM
