Yep. My family was in the clothing industry for a long time. I left it in the early '80's. My sister is doing manufacturing now. I also ran a zipper factory producing about 200,000 zippers per week. Had a showroom at the California Mart in LA. Worked in textiles. Worked in retail in high school. Did some design stuff. Pretty much A to Z.

SGS 08-16-2003 01:10 AM

Started in the adult industry straight from school almost thirty years ago. Invested in other business interests along the way of course but been in adult from day one in the big wide world.

91 - I was a Host, and was dancing all over Hollywood. Steve would'nt let me dance because the dancers hated me - cuz I made more money than them... and Steve's wife fired me for being "too wild" They named me "The Natural" on my first night. Good times!

Me & a partner have been trying to get a line off the ground for about 3 years now. Great consumer response, lack of financing (typical) Can we talk some time in the near future?

Sure. Clothing mfg. is a tough tough biz. I don't recommend it to anyone. You can make a lot of money, but its a constant grind and the major store buyers drive you bonkers.

teenjump 08-16-2003 01:23 AM

I'm an MCI network tech. I try to make money online. :)
Before that, I was a programmer for 2 years. Before that I was in school full time.

Right now I am investing in equipment to get going full blast.

No shit. We've been close, though. From our research, it takes approx. 8 years to make it with your own line, but once you get in right, it's a BIG payoff. We've been trying to get into Magic, but we're not sure if we're quite ready.

David was kind of a heavy set guy. Off the wall kind of personality. He was partners with Steve on some deals. David was from a wealthy family in Beverly Hills. His parents owned a shitload of luxury apartment buildings south of Wilshire. He was into antiques collecting. David drove the red Ferrari and I had the black 560SL in those front parking spots.

Do you remember Lisa Gallo and Andrea Gray down there?

What happens in 2006, Todd? Retirement?

magnatique 08-16-2003 02:00 AM

Was in School getting bored.. so I started some sites, and here I am.

but since I got in this industry, I can honestly say I touched practically all aspects of any jobs out there...

Graphics
HTML
Programming
Computer Network
Computer Hardware
Management
Consulting
Accounting
Law
Marketing
Sales
Networking
Human ressources
Video Editing
Encoding
Business
etc...

off course, some of those are mastered and some of those are only a good understanding of em, but what I like about this business is it lets me learn everyday... which in return gives me the ability to perform in ANY domain if I'm required to....

had no idea how to edit a video... We had a dumb video editor who couldn't figure out how to back shit up... I sat down, 10 mins later I figured how to back things up... then it was needed for me to do trailers, I learned that...

etc... Love this biz ;)

Yea, I grew up doing it. Made my living outside in some of the most dangerous country there is for over 20 years.

I figured I'd die working for wages or build something for myself, and I'm getting too stiff to ride colts now.

So, here I am :)
