Did anyone ever use one of those "DVD rental by post" services?

I was looking at a service that allows users to rent any 3 DVDs at once for under 20/month. They have the Tintin series, Ted Bundy and a bunch of foreign movies that I want......

to rip......

for educational purporses....................

Anyway, does anyone have any experience with these rental services? Not having to pay 4.50/movie at Blockbuster sounds pretty sweet.

I've been using Netflix for almost 4 years now - LOVE IT! :thumbsup There aren't any rental stores near me, so it's great to be able to go to the mailbox and get movies. :)

Looks like a bunch of unconfigurable point and click commercial junk. :(

Besides, why pay when EVERYTHING you need is freeeee!!

I used Netflix years ago when they first came out. Back then you got the movies for a fixed period of time and I sent most of them back without watching them. It was a free trial that came with my DVD player anyway. I don't think I watch $20 worth of DVDs a month. $3 a pop at the local Blockbuster (new releases were $4.50 where I used to live, prices vary by location) means about $6-9 a month for me. But if you watch a lot of movies or are bad about returning them and want to avoid late fees, it's a great service.

Netflix seem to work very well, reporting same-day reception and despatch most of the time. But if they were reporting accurately, then the US mail does not work near as well, at least not between their Texas warehouse and SE Kansas.

Very occasionally DVDs took 3 full business days in each direction, but more often it was 4-5 days (ie DVD mailed on a Monday would arrive on Friday or Saturday).

Still cheaper than the local store and a lot more choice, but factor in the weekends and even with 5 DVDs out at a time ($30 a month), more than half the time all our DVDs were en route. I have seen messages before which suggest that a lot depends on where you are located and which warehouse services you.

Sorry, I can't help you with that.... Haven't rented a DVD in a long time now.... I HAVE KAZAA!!

they have some sort of warehouse in phoenix or something because the return address on my dvd envelope says phoenix and i usually get my dvds the next day after they mail them or at the very latest 2 days after they mail them. netflix is great!
