MASH fan?

Why didn't the 4077 ever get casualties while they were drunk, (or drinking) which was most of the time?

bawdy 08-15-2003 04:11 AM

well actually there was the one episode when Radar got injured and it upset Hawkeye so much he go so pissed at Rosies that he couldnt operate as he was throwing up too much

Yep, your're right, and now that I think about it a bit more, I think Charles E. Winchester also had a hangover once.

SYNIKAL 08-15-2003 04:41 AM

mash was/is a gay show....

sacX 08-15-2003 04:44 AM

MASH is cool..

Hawkeye is so subversive and unpatriotic, I doubt a new show like MASH would go down very well these days.

MASH was a good movie and a great tv show. They drank all the time..I still reffer to snap, crackle, burp every now and then.

SkyWalker 08-15-2003 06:35 AM

it was scripted,
pssst, just like wrestling.

Excellent show and I still watch the reruns whenever they are on.

The show took a turn for the worse when Alan Alda started producing the show. (later years)

dd2 08-15-2003 07:43 AM

Great show, love the snappy one liners :thumbsup

foolio 08-15-2003 09:30 AM

Fuck yeah...ferrot face kicks ass. Colonel Flag kicked a lot of ass too.

Show went way down hill after frank burns left.

stevecore 08-15-2003 10:55 AM

hated it as a kid, didn't understand it.

as i got older, i started watching it and soon afterwards i never missed an episode!

it's why alan alda is one of my favorite actors.

Mash was a great commentary on the Viet Nam war. A bit too campy at times.

I wonder if they will come up with a show to comment on whats going on now in Iraq.

no, vietnam was correct. The show was set in Korea on the surface but was often intentionally commenting on Vietnam.

If so, then could that not pertain to virtually ANY war? Vietnam was over by the time MASH came about.

It all started with a book written by Dr. Richard Hornberger as he sat waiting for patients at his offices in Bremen, Maine. Using the pseudonym Richard Hooker it was a fictional account of his years at the 8055 Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in Korea.

Sarah_Jayne 08-15-2003 12:10 PM

more the movie than the series ...from what I have read the original writer wasn't happy that is was being used for anti-war reasons but none the less Altman doesn't hide it. There was just a show on tv over here about MASH and it was brought up over and over again about the connections to Vietnam.

Loryn 08-15-2003 12:41 PM

The reason they were never drunk when the patients came in, is because it's a TV show. I love Mash, have seen every episode at least 5 times over the years, and it was all about the Korean War not Vietnam.
