Consumption Junction Pics And Copyright

I assume that the pics are not copyright to CJ, Rotton.com etc

They put a watermark in, but would I (anyone) have the same rights to use them as those sites?
Any ideas?

Thanks

Sure, why not? We have hundreds of competitors posting public domain content like we do. Keep in mind that you'll need a staff of at least 10 to do it with our standard of quality, quantity and features.

It's not just the pix and videos that make it work, it's all the fucked up captions as well

CJ has gone to shit. about 3 years ago I had fun browsing the site for sick stuff, how it's just not worth it anymore. :2 cents:

Not to mention 7 years of viral marketing. I'm sure everyone here would like to start a new hun.net but the bottom line is you won't have that kind of fan base if you weren't there at the start. Well, you could but you'll need to do something pretty damn innovative.

What is it that you don't like about the way the site runs now? Let me know and we'll take it into consideration. We've made significant improvements in terms of navigation, embedded video files, etc. to make the site easier to use. There are a lot of ads on the site but hell we got to pay the bills. We are pushing 300 megs a sec.

Nope. Nick it and start your own.

Well of course the name, the recognition, and being around since the dawn of time always helps. Something new is hard to do, it's all about new real genuine ideas, and sadly not many people have those anymore. Why be original when someone else already has? I don?t agree with that, but a lot of people follow that.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Public domain content. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Cmon Rick, if you are going to take peoples property, use it without their consent, and not compensate them one dime, just say so.

Public domain.

Fucking hysterical.

I just liked it with fewer ads. But I understand, a site like CJ is very profitable and the word of mouth spreads very well for you.

I also have the feeling that you used to post more sicker shit years back, then again it might be that I became immune to the most stuff. hehe

No worries, I still am visiting it regularly and will keep on doing it. Actually I don't understand why I haven't advertized on CJ yet, hmm. :winkwink:

You don't know us very well. I assume that we've never done business. Every porn related piece of content on our site is a paid ad. There are times when a fan will submit a piece of content where we are unaware that it is owned and licensed to someone in the business. When this happens we will take it down or link to the person's site of their choice with the linking code of their choice. In our business all we can do is use our best judgement and handle each situation as they arrise. Almost everyone on this board knows that we do everything we can to avoid posting owned content without giving credit and traffic. What do you suppose we do? Shut the site down? All we can do is work closely with everyone. We have an excellent reputation so don't challenge me.

Well, before we realized that we had a real business we pushed the limits pretty hard. But while we are on U.S. soil we can only post so much of the truely hardcore content that comes across our pipes.

I remember the post on the frontpage years back when the owner (whoever that is, you?) complained about the bandwidth charges. lol

If the US laws pose a threat, get some dutch servers and expand the variety. :thumbsup

haha exactly, you can only see so much carnage, piss drinking, blood and guts. At first you're like whoa WTF, get sick to your stomach show all your friends. Then after a while you sit around with your friends go through the pix and try to come up with the funniest saying to go with it!

I will just address this part.

First, that is NOT how you have always operated. In the beginning, you used a lot of content that you had no legal rights to use.

Secondly, to this part of your operation, I say bullshit.

When we sue people, I usually don't go to court. In the beginning, I did because I wanted to get a feel for what goes on.

On one of our cases, the lawyer for the defendant said pretty much the same thing you just said. The judge responded with the following: "While it may be true that your client was not aware that the plaintiff owned the content in question, at all times during the process, your client was WELL AWARE of who was NOT the owner of the content in question, HIM."

If you have so many paid ads, and so much legal content, why screw around with the rest of it?

Your use of the term "public domain" when discussing certain content on your site is what I object to. The overwhelming majority of content that you call public domain, is in fact, NOT.

As soon as I have enough money I'm leaving this dirt so many call the land of the free. My business partner Paul and I are practicing the national anthem of Liechtenstein:

High above the young Rhine

Lies Liechtenstein, resting

On Alpine heights.

This beloved homeland,

This dear fatherland

Was chosen for us by

God's wise hand.

This beloved homeland,

This dear fatherland

Was chosen for us by

God's wise hand.

Long live Liechtenstein,

Blossoming on the young Rhine,

Happy and faithful!

Long live the Prince of the Land,

Long live our fatherland,

United by brotherly bonds and free.

Long live the Prince of the Land,

Long live our fatherland,

United by brotherly bonds and free.

pennd 08-14-2003 02:00 PM

Rick that's hilarious, do they really sing their national anthem in English?

The bottom line is that it's easy to rip a site. there are enough bangbus bites out there, I know. but that doesn't mean your sites' gonna be worth a shit. The true value in a site like CJ's is their traffic. CJ customers are loyal, they love their porn, and they don't mind paying for it. If you want to try copying their site, more power to you. CJ's got my support, as long as they never post those pics of me that one time where I was hanging and uhhh ...

Mike AI 08-14-2003 02:04 PM

JMM, are you trying to chase Rick away??

He hates it when people bring up those pesky copyright laws. I find it very IRONIC that people who have profited from violating copyrights, would probably have the biggest cow if webmasters from GFY started taking all their adult content and putting it on their sites.

Copyright theft is wrong - period!! The only thing CJ can do is justify, make excuses and try to BS it all away.

That's translated text, of course. :) Listen to Penn, I've sent him ten's of thousands of joins.

Shit, even my dad has CJ bookmarked.

Mike, I'm sick of your shit. You are so incredibly 2-faced. You have now just cost yourself a lot of joins. We are both really close friends to Sweet T and because of that I have always tried to treat you with respect. But you are officially on my shit list now. You won't get traffic from me and you won't be accepted into the Dollars.com exchange. You are the worst because everytime I see you in public you smile, shake my hand and act like a friend. Your kind is the worst kind and you can go fuck yourself.

By the way, we don't get content at all. It is all submitted by fans. Read our terms of service

Rick Latona 08-14-2003 02:12 PM

I quoted myself rather than editing!

KMR Stitch 08-14-2003 02:12 PM

CJ Fucking rocks! They are the reason I got into the biz.

My friend sent me the link awhile back.

Fell in love with the site! :thumbsup

<--Fan!

DaKine 08-14-2003 02:13 PM

first i like you guys.

but

You should consult with a copywrite/trademark/licensing attorney to explain to you the difference between public domain and copywrited materials.

especially after putting a watermark (your website addy) on every movie ect. you guys use.

99% of the stuff on your site is not public domain dude.

Mike AI 08-14-2003 02:36 PM

Rick I am not 2 faced. I am honest. I have been calling you out on copyright issues since DAY ONE!! What you do is violate copyrights. It is a moot point if I like you personally or not. I have spent thousands protecting my Copyrighted images. ( I am sure you protect YOUR copyright images as well)

Business is business. I do business with people who I do not necessarily like all the time. If you do not want to send to my program, no problem, we have done well in this industry for the past 8 years... I think we will manage.

As far as the dollars.com thing. I held back my opinion publicly on this "amazing patented system" in deference of our relationship, and those with T.

If you want me to critique dollars.com publicly, and post feedback I got from others about it, I would be more then happy to go into it. But you may want to think long and hard on it, because those who have been around for a LONG time see right through it.

Come on, you can do better. This is the arguement some punk had a few months ago when I sued him in Federal Court. The judge did not buy it either.
