That's the whole point of the Rolling Stone cover - to present them as women, not children. They are 17 years old now and they are trying to make the transition from kid stars to teen babes like Britney and Christina. In the Rolling Stone article it says they are targeting 20 year old guys with their next movie instead of little girls.
