Boosting WiFi Signals...
I'm in my inlaws back yard. Connected through their neighbor's wireless router or some shit. Any thoughts on how I might boost the signal? Sort of walking around the yard with my laptop on my head...

I heard making a giant hat out of tin foil works well :)

Get a big antenna :)

I'm trying to find it, worked with wifi cards with antennas that could unscrew. Mini dish that suctions on to the back of your display and increases service. Plugs into your USB for power... anybody know what I'm talking about?

My connection seems decent... I just thought there might be a possible card setting regulating the strength or frequency of the packets or some geek shit... |

the only thing I know is you might be able to make/get a repeater or booster I know they exist... basically a box which picks up the signal makes it stronger and resends it |
Hmmmm...something to think about. Seems everywhere I go I'm finding open networks...Its like wardriving...and I'm not even driving.
My inlaws moved into a new neighborhood and there are like 3 different wireless networks near this house...one in the backyard and 2 out front. Its too easy...I've been on this one for nearly 2 hours now and no loss of signal. Its says the signal strength is "Very Low" but I don't notice it. I'm gonna go and do a speed test right now..see what's going on here. |
