I heard asuna got the same thing
Hit him up he should have it fixed by now

darnit 08-11-2003 01:32 PM

from our sysadmin:

This is due to a bug/exploit in Windows XP that basically has existed for at least 6 months and Microsoft just released a patch to fix it last week. To make a long boring technical story about what is happening short, somebody outside the company is sending information to your computer that causes it to reboot. The best fix is to get the patch at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com under Critical Updates and Service Packs. In talking to a friend who works support at Microsoft they have been getting insane amounts of calls about this problem today, and the problems it is causing with many many people, so it appears it is a very wide spread attack by some very bored people out there, and nothing aimed just at your computer.

Thankfully it didn't spread as fast as the SQL Slammer did.

Project-Shadow 08-11-2003 03:42 PM

Theo 08-11-2003 04:14 PM

check symantec.com

it's a today's virus

w32.blaster shit

i got infected as well and it's hard to remove it because you need to scan for the infected files and no antivirus updates works

+ svhost crashes and nearly nothing works

Hamlet 08-11-2003 04:17 PM

i had this problem on my other comp - i ran norton to remove the virus and then ran windows update - this seems to have fixed it.
