how much did you spend when you first start your online adult biz?

just wonder
me? $1904.25:2 cents:

FATPad 08-10-2003 09:51 AM

$70.00 for a domain, and a $10 hosting package that was immediately blown into a $190 overage charge when I got listed on Persian Kitty within 12 hours.

Jakke PNG 08-10-2003 09:51 AM

Nothing. I stole my content and hosted on my ISP's space.
Fun... then I got nasty emails from someone who's content I was using.. so I decided to learn how things are supposed to be done. :)

Mike AI 08-10-2003 10:10 AM

I started with a $25 dial-up account, and a $300 thee pass scanner. I took photos of my girlfriend at the time.

Anyone remember the 3 pass scanner? IT would take 10 minutes to scan one photo ( and you could not do anything else on the computer).

I had a brand new P90 with 32 megs of RAM, I thought I was a PIMP. ( I still have the original computer on the office network)

This was back in 1995... I was living with my parents and in law school. I did not have $10 to my name. Was driving a 10 year old Toyota which had no radio or A/C.

Many how times have changed....

Anyone remember a site called - BLONDE 2 BLONDE ?

Those were the days....

PerfectionGirls 08-10-2003 10:11 AM

$99.00 on Frontpage! lol My second worst investment I even made! lol

Va2k 08-10-2003 10:13 AM

$35.00 for a street whore that I filmed, $50.00 for hosting $99.00 for content package at pixmasters. and that is it.
TOM

Theo 08-10-2003 10:13 AM

Master_Yoba 08-10-2003 04:30 PM

I invested $3,000 to shooting own content and $1,000 to design and programming. It was 2000 year

Btw, the profit was $20,000 Not too bad for 12 months period :winkwink:

stocktrader23 08-10-2003 04:33 PM

Hmm, around $150,000 in 2k1 and a few hundred thousand overall. I took damn near all of 2002 off and only made money from my downline or it would be much more.

Gutterboy 08-10-2003 04:45 PM

$0

fiveyes 08-10-2003 04:48 PM

Well, both my first camcorder and computer were gifts from my mother before she passed on. So, I guess my actual expenses were $70.00 for the domain and $45/m for my virtual host and about $200 or so for a SNAPPY 1.0. Oh, and two VCR's were given to me by a shopowner that I was friends with in exchange for future product, which was my first business deal.

hey, you said that you got 150 in 2k1 but when you invested $0.00?

btw, you are registered here at Jan 2003
It seems all the big adult money is outside this board :Graucho

greentea 08-10-2003 04:53 PM

the cost of domain name back then $35.00

TurboTrucker 08-10-2003 04:57 PM

When I got in adult it was from doing a search on making money online. Everything I saw looked scammy except for one company. I decided to try it out and made money from the first week with original marketing. I had no idea a webmaster board existed before December of 2002 nor did I ever talk to other webmasters.

Nothing, I posted stolen content to TGP's and then once I was listed 404'd them to a major popup hell.

I too got nasty letters from people who's content I was using and decided I should look into doing this all the legal way if I was going to make any real cash.

hehe, I was over here saying $150,000 knowing people would laugh at that being low. :winkwink:

TheSaint 08-10-2003 05:23 PM

Around $30,000:

$5,000 in video equipment
$25,000 to cover around 25 shoots at 1K each
$5,000 - jewelry for the wife to help sell her that this was "a good idea".

Knowing nothing, I fully planned to loose it but it worked out great.

Quotealex 08-10-2003 05:25 PM

$2,000 + $150/month on a "turnkey" site that was just a banner farm.

ibs 08-10-2003 05:46 PM

Well my first domain was $72 usd for 2 years from internic. Only way they would sell it. Then came network solutions.

My 486/pentium I do not remember was it called pentium 1 I do not think so I think it was just pentium. If I remember it had 64k ram and a 20mb hdd and 9600 baud modem my dial up was advertising 14.4 but I had already bought. no cd we used only floppys thank god for jazz and zip I think I paid $1,800

My dial up from a guy who had an isp in his garage cost me $35

webcam shows were only done by dialers ONLY !

I think I spent about $5,000 oh yeah the hosting was $450 monthly on a t1 this guy had in his dorm room.

So by the time I made any money I probably spent about $12,000 usd

richard 08-10-2003 06:33 PM

We did the "steal some pics use our ISP webspace" thing for a couple of months, then invested the $5,000 we made into CJ scripts/pics+hosting in '99.
