globill expiring memberships?
Hey all.
I know that in Globills swan song letter they did "assure" us webmasters that their server would still expire members when their subscriptions were over, but... I've had a couple annoyed members who signed up thru Globill say they were rebilled as of a couple days ago (and of course the cancellation page doesn't load for them, so they were stuck with it). And sure enough, their user and pass is still in my password file, hasn't expired after all! Anyone else having problems with this? Not sure if members are actually getting charged, but that would really suck. -s |

I've just checked and I don't have rebilling problems like you have but I did find that I have members in my password file that are not shown when I do a search for all my members in their stats pages.
The sales were made because I have emails that these members paid. The problem is if they are not shown in the Globill stats pages then they will never expire. What a bunch of assholes they are :ak47: |

Just chill, this is an easy one to manage. GloBill went bust on the 25th right? So the last member who could have physically joined was on the 25th July, so just wait until 25th Aug and delete you .htpasswd file. Okay, so some guys may get a few days bonus access but in the grand scheme of this GloBill fiasco expiring the current members is the last thing you need to worry about.

As I posted before, Globill is NOT expiring members - I had about a hundred that should have expired that were still in the password file.
Intrestingly, they still try to access my billing script after I deleted it and blocked their domain - my guess is that the shitheads at Glofuck sold their system to password traders who will have lifetime access to your site now. Anyone with Gofuck should at the very least delete their billing script and manually remove members. Its a lot of work but I downloaded my user list from them into a spreadsheet, put in a formula to calculate expiration and sorted by that. Then I just sit down every couple days and manually delete the expires - no free ride at my sites.:thumbsup |
They deleted expired in my password file... But as above, by the 25th, password file will be cleaned of Globill U/P combination.

Rest assured Globill is not in anyway managing pass files.

Yeah, I figured Globill wasn't going to automatically expire memberships, but my main concern is whether they're actually charging folks' credit cards when they'd ordinarily be due to rebill.
I had a couple members say as much, but I'm not sure if they knew what they were talking about... I think they were just pissed cuz the Globill interface wouldn't allow them to cancel so they just assumed they'd been rebilled. Fun! |
