I do not know what the actual percentage of falilure is for reserve chutes but the reasons for a reserve "failing" are varied...and it is not really accurate to say they "failed".

More often than not there is not a complete malfunction of the main chute to deploy and more often than not if one has a semi-malfunction of the main then there is not enough decent speed to actually inflate the deployed reserve...so you will have a hard landing.

First off..... let me tell you that the Marine Corps does not tolerate racisim. It may exist, it may be a battle that has yet to be won' but I can tell you with out question, varey rarely do you get people getting called ****** in tyhe Corps.

When this happens on rare occasion the Marine is punished severely and will have an entry made on page 11 of the service record book which can never be expunged.

The goal is to fall to the ground as quickly as possible without killing yourself not to mention having over 100 pounds worth of equipment. Many people still compare it to jumping of a 10 story building

Maybe many people do compare it to jumping off a 10 story building but that would be a very gross exageration...and would be killing time. Jumping from a 16 foot height is basically the landing shock involved...though this can vary upwards...depending on wind speed.

He was not the onnly one. I was listening to NPR on my way home yesterday. They said he cut a deal to testify against another marine that was also involved.

The best part about the corp is that once he has finished his time in levenworht he then has to finish the rest of his enlistment and then get dishonorably discharged. Do not fuck with the Corp.
