Anyone know how to fix this windows error?
 

I get it everytime I load up windows and lately my computer has been shutting down on it's own. I'm on xp

How about telling us what that file is? There's no extension.

Blow away your windows install and use Linux ;)

you have a virus..

update ur defs.. and do a scan..

Take the file out of your start up routine or re name it. See if your computer runs ok.
It's most likely an infected file, or some crap file that runs spam.

Your machine is probably full of spybots and pop up ads, and other junk will slow the machine down and crash it.

I dont know. Windows doesn't know what kind of file it is either because theres no extension

I ran a full scan last night and it didn't come up with anything.

try running fdisk :thumbsup

If you don't have the Worm yet...You Will unless you update your system.

I would get ZoneAlarm too If you're not running it already.

What?? Man, if you're trying to run a file without an extension and you don't know what it is or what it does, then you deserve to have your hard drive fucked by a virus.

Thanks everyone. I found and deleted the file, ran adaware, spybot s&d, and did a windows update.

Now I'll scan my system again for virises, should I be OK with that or is there more I should do?

also did this file record my username and passwords when I used them and send that info to someone?

I just want to know so I can cancel my credit cards and get new ones
