Arnold Shwarzenager

is going to run for Governor of California.

theking 08-06-2003 06:32 PM

Feinstein Won't Run for California Governor.

Funny that Republicans were saying just a few months ago that millionaire Hollywood actors should stay out of politics and mind their own business. :1orglaugh

what's funny is that he's a liberal on most social issues but fiscaly conservative... and then join the Republican for it!??

What the fuck does he know about economy...!? Top economic experts cannot even agree on most issues... what makes him think that he have the slightest clue at getting California back on track!?

KRL 08-06-2003 06:52 PM

It really doesn't matter. If the deficit doesn't sink California, an earthquake or a meteor strike in the Pacific in the next couple of years probably will.

And...California has the 5th largest economy in the World...with a hugh debt.

theking 08-06-2003 07:13 PM

By the way...it is my belief that California's ills started with Pete Wilson and deregulation of California's utility suppliers...the lack of power plants built during Pete Wilson's term...and then the "robbery" inflicted upon California by Eron...compounded by President Bush's Administration...not stepping in and stopping the "robbery" by Eron. Gray Davis just happened to be at the "helm" when all of the shit came down and is now being held responsible. I am not competely satisfied that he will not be re-elected but it is looking grim.

To replace him with Arnold Shwarzenager...in my opinion would be a fucking joke.

directfiesta 08-06-2003 07:22 PM

What a nice level of politics... lkol

Appearing on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," Schwarzenegger said his message to politicians of both parties was: "You do your job and you do it well or else you're out and it's hasta la vista, baby" -- a line from the "Terminator" movie series.

Many in the audience collectively gasped and burst into applause when he announced his decision.

I think its great. I voted for Jesse "The Body" Ventura when I lived in Minnesota and he did awesome things for that state. The best thing about him is that he stood up for what he believed regardless of what the media or others thought.

Anyone still have the Playboy interview where he said, "Religion is a crutch for weak-minded people." That was fucking classic!

GO AHHNOLD!!!

Funny, when it's Bush, and the defense is he "just happened to be at the helm when the shit came down", that excuse doesn't fly with you people.

Who are you including in the arena of "you people"?

The Truth Hurts 08-06-2003 08:47 PM

people that are constantly making excuses for other people by projecting the blame elsewhere.

don't feel bad, everyone does it.

I suspect that Arnold wants to straighten up the mess that Davis has made of the school system. There are alot of teachers that are losing their jobs and many school cuts...

I have a feeling that alot of democratics in the teaching field are going to vote for Arnold after his success with his proposition 49

There are only a few ways to eliminate the deficit.

Cut services...people do not like that.

Cut services in conjunction with raising taxes...people don't like that.

Don't cut services...and raise taxes...people don't like that.

Davis has chosen to cut services and increase taxes/costs in certain areas.

Which would Arnold choose...hmm maybe cut taxes (as the President did) and increase the deficit.

Gray Davis should be cutting the dead weight that works for the goverment not the school teachers, programs etc..

One of the guys that was bugging me when I was in retail management a few years ago, worked for cal trans.. He was suppose to be evaluating for road works etc etc and writing reports. He bullshitted his way around and spent half his days at the mall picking up on 2 to 3 women a day.................I bet the guy made $ 5000 to 7000 a month and he spent the majority of his time chasing women..

i would like to see larry win, but Arnold will be very hard opponent. He is very smart and knows how to properly promote himself. When he was very young, before becoming a known bodybuilding star he was visiting from high schools to prisons and he was doing free bodybuilding shows. This way the newspapers started writing about him.

There are always anecdotes to be told. My brother works for a college...a professor with tenture had his department cut out...in one of the previous cutbacks...but because he has tenure he has to be retained...so he teaches fencing three hours per week and is paid about $80,000 per. Waste and fat exists in virtually every arena...but I do think that education should not be on the short list for cuts.

I saw on celebrity new last night that Arnold is announcing that he is dropping out from the race :(

Matrix 08-07-2003 11:57 AM

Davis has been stealing from the California since he started. He's not just sitting there taking the blame for other peoples screw ups. Not saying that any other politicians are not doing the same but it looks like he gave himself a little to much rope, and "he hung himself". My buddy here in CA just got his new harley registration, as of Oct, everyone's for every vehicle triples. That sucks big. Energy Crisis here, what a joke. All politicians are dirty but Davis is double dirty.

Heh, just a perfect example of trying to pander to every extream
left wing group out there. A few 100 million hear and there pandering to the unions. Anti business regs pandering to enviro
wackos. 3 million for inpact studies to build a small shop to employ a few people, border states 0 for impact studies. This list could go on forever.
Californias biggest export is jobs.
