New McDonals Menu in Australia

SALADS, apples, yoghurt and vegetarian burgers - all served with a side order of fries. Well, not quite, but McDonald's is at least trying

http://www.news.com.au/common/story_...55E421,00.html

Do other countries already have this?

funkmaster 08-06-2003 01:26 AM

you canīt compare an australian mc donalds place to an american ... food is 100% the same, but the reputation is so different.

NO...

British Columbia Mc Donalds have had all that stuff for probably over a year now. The salads maybe in the last 10 months.

They seem to test stuff here first I think, I know we had interact at Mc Donalds before other ones.

They are going to change their fries to no beef fat which will totaly suck.

I went to a Mc Donalds in China, I actually ate there every day for the last week of my trip becaus I was so sick of the other chinese food. It sucked though cause you couldn't only order the small sizes of stuff and normal size cheeseburgers.

we've had that shit in NZ for a while now.. maybe a year..

stupid if you ask me. vege burgers I understand. burger king have always done those here and non-hippy vegetarians eat them.

but salad.. that's just screwed. surely that's why people pack lunches or go to subway.

Sarah_Jayne 08-06-2003 01:58 AM

they have a new salad range over here too.

When I was a teen back in the States they had a range of Chef Salad's and the like that were actually pretty good but I guess they dropped them.

Do they have kangaroo burgers?

spooky181 08-06-2003 02:56 AM

Just saw it on the news as well, so I'm heading off now to give it a try.

Spooky

mcdonald's are going after the veto vote in families..

Apparently they've perceived a problem that a lot of families avoid going to mcdonalds now because there's someone who says 'there's nothing for me at mcdonalds' so by broadening the menu and offering a few healthier options they attend to this argument.

abdab_1 08-06-2003 03:12 AM

We just the usual menu in the UK, the odd store ohas a cup of salard.

While in Amsterdam I got this very odd burger thing it was like a potatoe crocket - anyone know what it is called? - it was rather nice.

Pornwolf 08-06-2003 03:15 AM

We've had the veggie burgers for about 4 years now. It's kinda nasty IMHO.

It seems like the most different McD menu I saw was in the UK. They had burgers on foccacia bread and all kinds of different higher end stuff.

MCDonald is the biggest shit. Especially in my country.
It is very very expensive piece of crap. Mybe in US it's cheap so on quality of "food" does not matter.
Here you will spend for one burger same price like for mormal food in restaurant

UrbanUnderworld 08-06-2003 03:56 AM

Next they'll start making porn sites display pictures of people with girlfriends. Give McDonalds their rights back! :helpme

there was a special about this on the BBC a couple months ago. THe UK arm of McD is losing money and are trying to do whatever they can to get people in the door.

Oh a weird side note, our local one was the first in the UK..has a plauge outside saying it was opened by the Queen and everything.

rebel23 08-06-2003 04:49 AM

their salad range in the US has just as many calories as a Big Mac :1orglaugh but they're doing a roaring trade as ppl are buying them thinking it's healthy :1orglaugh

Sarah_Jayne 08-06-2003 05:08 AM

yeah that is like the salads KFC is advertising now..a salad with cold fried chicken on the top. Just because it is cold doesn't mean it doesn't have the fat anymore.

iroc409 08-06-2003 05:52 AM

they have these new crazy mcdonald's '3in1's here now. i was in one once... it's fucking confusing. it's a real sit-down restaurant, a bakery/dessert thingie place for takeout, and the regular mcdonald's. they're trying to make it look like a real restaurant, and it kinda is. except the phones you order with at the tables. it scared me, so i left..

Yes, we have had that menu in Canada for almost a year now, jump on the health wagon. Like anything comming out of Mcdonalds is going to be healthy!

When I was a little kid... i used to work at maccas.. and we had heaps of people constantly asking for burgers without meat...

bloody hell! it took them THIS long to come up with an alternative?

did you know if you take away the lettuce from a McDonald's burger, it becomes a confectionary? why aren't they selling cotton candy (we call it fairy floss) as sides of main meals or McSnak meals???
:Graucho

buger king has been selling no-meat whoppers for some time. never had one, sounds nasty, but one of my friends used to eat them. he said it was good.

ya know tho, mcdonald's seriously doesn't quite get it. when those salad things first came out i tried one. and sure, it was a salad, but the dressing they give you has like 20g of fat in it :(

What's the difference in reputation?

actually was going to say.. we've had caesar salads at maccas here for about 2 yrs or something... and they're full of about as much fat as McOz...

sorry for the "health" info.. but health professionals suggest for av. diet, 20 g fat a day is good.. well.. bigmacs have about 32 g fat.. hmmm..

McDonald's buns were a conspiracy.... the chems they use to make it so... sweet... dehydrate your immediate digestive system, so you need a drink before you leave the restaurant.. hmm.. if only we could come up with similar plans for our sites............. :glugglug

abdab_1 08-08-2003 05:49 AM

Yes I can remember having the honnour of working, sorry cleaning for McDonnalds.

We used to get people in asking for a cheese burger with no meat why they did not go next door and get a cheese roll I will never know

Corleone 08-08-2003 08:13 AM
