VISA's banned the word TEEN

I don't fucking believe it :1orglaugh
I received an email from AC that one of my Gold sites has the word "Teen" in the title and Visa has banned the use of this word. Here's the email.

"Hello Kevin,

This site (551685) was removed from the Gold links due to containing words recently flagged by Visa as "banned."

Please consider changing the word in your title from "Teen" to something else."

The next thing Visa is going to do is start telling the 3rd party processors to stop processing for sites that use the word "Teen"

Why 08-05-2003 09:28 AM

play by the rules or dont play at all.

buck up, stop whining visa is your god.

jigg 08-05-2003 09:28 AM

CDSmith 08-05-2003 09:53 AM

Richard's Realm has had the world "teen" banned for years now. They insist you call them "young ladies" in your gallery descriptions.

Work around it and get on with it I always say.

lil2rich4u2 08-05-2003 09:54 AM

if they can ban teen, they can ban young, adult, porn, etc.

sky is the limit.

any url's for this news?

visa should love such movements. If a sponsor doesn't allow you to use the word teen, imagine how normal will sound for them when they take this decision for the rest of us

:thumbsup

gothweb 08-05-2003 10:08 AM

Use someone who doesn't have sucky policies. I don't see all the billers and AVSs banning "teen". How much of this is Visa, and how much is AC going too far in an attempt to get ahead of the curve?

Bear 08-05-2003 10:10 AM

How about schoolgirl or schoolmate?

I planning a site related to this. Of course all models are over 18.

BRISK 08-05-2003 10:12 AM

If AC is doing this, they're doing it for a reason. It's not like banning the word "teen" is going to make them more money.

That's hardly reason to ban the WHOLE word.

Want to ban the word SEX too? adultSEX.com underageSEX.com

Since "teen" is a very general term (ie: It can refer to people <18 and people >18), it's not the title that makes it underage. It's the content of the site.

I wish Visa could kiss our asses. :(

Unfortunately we've been the ones doing the kiss and we're going to continue kissing theirs for a long time now...

LeeNoga 08-05-2003 10:15 AM

Why the anger?

Let me tell you a bed time story, back when and even when I entered publishing porn in the 80's, the only guidelines we had to go on was the video industry.

They NEVER used the word teen for obvious reasons.

Then the CD-ROM XXX age came in 1991, and we DID NOT use the word teen [it was so NOT accepted].....

Then comes the internet, and the wild west times and some folks believe its our right to do as we please.

The Clinton years made the internet believe we were exempt, us old timers from pre-web knew this day would come.

Its here, and so what.

Out of the whole history of adult entertainment going back 50 -75years in publications. Clinton gacve us a reprieve for a few years and all kinds of words were brought forward.

It was a blip that is going to be closed, and business as usual the way adult entertainment has been done for 97% of its life.

We are none the worse for not marketing the word " teen" over 75 years and STILL making some serious money in porn.

There has always been guidelines and about damn time internet was bound by them too.

Babaganoosh 08-05-2003 10:18 AM

Change it to COED. Visa won't bitch about that one.

Just make all your business decisions, forecasts, budgets, plans etc on a month to month basis from now on and you'll be fine.

Long term anything has gone out the window.

Everyone just has to get used to this unpredictable whats next business environment. I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Me either, but if you want that site's traffic then you simply work around it.

RR prefers the term "young lady".... arguing with them won't get you listed. You either boycott them or you work within their rules, the choices are pretty straightforward.

solonline 08-05-2003 10:39 AM

well this just fucking stinks! Utter and total bullshite in my book.
whats next, no shaved minges, no small breast, will VISA employ a medic to check size of the jugs,,,,fuck this makes memad...
this aint about CP,,,, its about fucking zelots up on high telling the rest of the world how it shouldbe!

Hope "old", "mature" and "granny" will not be banned till the end of this year... However it seems that VISA just tying to control the adult industry... Where is celebrated US anti-monopolistic committee?

Yes, you would be.... unless you have different versions of the same page. I simply take a few moments to tailor certain pages to comply with the rules of certain sites that I think are worth the effort.

Work around it people. If this "AC" 's rules ain't to your liking, go with someone else. If enough webmasters start leaving them or avoiding them, they'll soon get the message.

cherrylula 08-05-2003 10:45 AM

What about the words "eighteen" and "nineteen?"

Does this mean those are banned as well since they have "teen" in them?

Will have to replace the words with the numbers I suppose.

Just noting the irony CD, just noting the irony.

KCat 08-05-2003 11:21 AM

Schoolgirl implies a very young girl to me...worse than teen. I'd stick with college girl or coed.

:2 cents:

~Ray 08-05-2003 11:30 AM

Whats wrong with using "Perfect 10"? Is that copywritten where no one can ever use that text again? geesh.

scooby doo as scooby does 08-05-2003 12:19 PM

LOL. I thought 'teen' had been banned for ages. Maybe it was the Lancelot Security hamster bile that I remember. Same arguments bout 18-19teen then.

beemk 08-05-2003 12:23 PM

i smell bullshit

Carrie 08-05-2003 01:08 PM

According to Bryce from AC, this is Visa's decision, not AC trying to stay ahead of the curve:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The words "teen" and "lola" are banned words from VISA. Adult Check has no control over VISA's policies, but is nonetheless bound by them.

I understand that you would like more notice, but no notice was provided by VISA, so we can all chalk it up to something else we can be angry at them for. The important thing is to take any and all steps neccessary to protect the system, the banking relationships, and the merchant accounts.
