Nasty Virus
 

So apparently my system was taken out by that rather nasty virus. We're attempting to recover things, but it will likely take a few days.. if anyone needs to get in touch with me please email me at [email protected] as I don't have icq or anything else set up yet. Thanks.

Which virus is this?

1. Why haven't M$ released a fix yet.
2. Why are you using Outlook in the first place?

RUN Windows Update
INSTALL a good firewall
USE good Antivirus software - Norton Antivirus
UPDATE Virus definitions

This is a virus that apparently even McCaffe hasn't heard of yet. I don't know what it is, but my harddrive is dead. I might be able to recover it, I might not.. but as of this very moment I'm very fucked.

If it has to do with the MS RPC exploit that was released around July 16 then I doubt a virus program would have picked that up.

Did you have a Firewall running?
Did you run Windows Update since July 16th?
