Help in chopping mpg clips
What is the best software to chop up a 20 minute mpg video into 1 minute clips. Does not need to do anything special....
If I could load up more than 1 video at a time that would be better. |
MPEGS are a poor media to be chopping and putting back together... there are programs that will do it, however i must warn you allot of them do not do it well if at all. You are going to get weird anomolies in them when you split an mpeg such as stuttering, loss of sound and fast movement. If you are able to get the MPEG in a different format (not Windows media or real) such as .dv or .mov or others then that would be your best option. If not, then I would recommend you look around for a solution maybe at versiontracker.com or another site that you can do a search for MPEG splitters for a free solution.
I have done it although like i said it took a while before i found something that would work, but as i said it was not perfect. Iam not a final say on this and perhaps someone can help you better then I and enlighten both of us. Hope this helps. |
Thanks for the info.
I am sure their must be a simple solution... |
james. i can do it for 20 bucks

Vegas Video or Video Factory by Sonic Foundry does the job seamlessly.
But there are a lot of free or shareware splitter programs out there. And the person that mentioned mpegs are difficult/problematic to chop up...wtf?? I do it all the time with Vegas Video and have never had a problem. |

And the person that mentioned mpegs are difficult/problematic to chop up...wtf?? Video Vegas kicks ass, it's now called Vegas by Sonic Foundry. The problem with mpegs is that they are already compressed and vegas is working with a compressed file and them when you go to resave it as a mpeg it's compressing a compressed file so sometimes you can loose video quality. Now if you are working with a really hires mpeg and changing the res or size to something lower you can get away with it |
