Shooting Content?

I might sound stupid and get flamed for asking, but I hope a few people give me some good answers. :)

What kind of equiptment does somebody need to start shooting content. ie What kind of digital camera do you use, is it high end or low end? How should you handle lighting, ie should artificial lighting or just ambient lighting be used? Is there much else needed except a camera?

Also, other than photoshop and Fireworks, are there any software packages that a content provider should have or be familiar with? Thanks, I'm sure somebody can give me a good answer. :thumbsup

I use a sony cdr camera 3.3 mega pixels

It all depends what you are shooting for

the pros use lots of expensive equipment

if you are thinking about making content for other sites you better go take some photo classes

or

take pics of outrageous acts

or

exxxtremely hot chicas

butt with all the really really discounted images available with no hassles why make your own

competing as a old pro in the current market is suicide in my humble opinion just my final :2 cents:

I shoot my own content for my site http://www.chezchris.ca

I use two single chip panasonic mini dv cameras and one canon g2 stills camera.

I use compupic pro for all my photo needs. I edit with Pinnacle Studio 8 on a PIV athlon 1.7ghtz processor with an extra 80gig hard drive for editing.

I try and use as much available natural light as I can. If I need more I use 500watt hallogen lamps that I picked up at a build all centre (the kinds you see on a constrution site).

The gear you need is relatively inexpensive. It's acquiring and paying talent that is the big $$ drainer!

Hope this helps. Anything else hit me up on icq. 78269067

We use Canon D10s and Nikon coolpixs as back up for still shots.
The canon is brill, as we can shoot in shite conditions and still get a pic. Movies are done on Canon XM1s, great for filthy close up shots, and they look good as well :Graucho
All the vid muck is then edited through adobe prem/DV500
pics are run through thumbsplus, rezzed and banked for use/resale.

The gear costs a bit, but more than that is the cost of the girls ass and location.

Last time we shot on the scottish border in the UK. Great rural locale, ideal for spanking the girls fannys in bright sunshine,

:thumbsup

I would suggest using a SLR digital camera like the Fuji Fine Pix S1 or S2 pro or Nikon D100 or similar.
