Successfully dodging Visa since 1953. Here to stay.

Cindyff 08-01-2003 11:56 AM

Get off the web, that's my suggestion??

If you use one of the billing companies who try to dodge Visa they will eventually be closed down and you or you friend will be back here cry about all the money lost when Visa shuts these little billing companies down. StormPay is very limited and if you have a good site you will get very few sign ups as not many people have Storm Pay accounts yet.

The only path to follow is go with one of the big guys like Epoch or CCbill at least they stand a chance of being here next year ?

I am not trying to be nasty but these are the facts and if you want to make serious $$$ you have to spend some $$$

:thumbsup

However I have to give you one word of advice, you might want to establish a European Presenz soon, since Verotel is located in the EU and Visa is tightning things up

Go with CCBill and drop Visa if you cannot afford the 750. Than safe your money and ad Visa at a later date. CCbill is about the safest right now for US Webmasters

SENSEX 08-01-2003 12:09 PM

You have no choice, Verotel, Probilling, 2000charge, Membershipplus, or just use ccbill, and dont take Visa

Tell your friend if she plans to have a webmaster refferal program, I would suggest her to pay the 750 visa fee because allot of webmasters now won't promote if they are not with ibill, ccbill or Epoch... Thats my opinon.

Thx

toerist 08-01-2003 12:26 PM

as a webmaster i try to seek ccbill programs
because i know they pay and surtenly at this time with the VISa problems....
i heard from CCBill that they are here to stay and don't have problems yet to use VISA...

just my thought

Bear 08-01-2003 12:36 PM

Yeah, setup a EU corporation and use ibll, ccbill and jettis.

I got the answer from 2000charge and they are no longer accept adult sites from the time being.

matulo 08-01-2003 01:02 PM

well why not to use verotel ? They process via VISA International that means no stupid rules.

Didn't Globill also process with Visa International? The 'no stupid rules' bit them in the ass.

Fact is Visa is getting pissed... if you're in the US and are accepting Visa and trying to dodge 'da man', you've got a target painted on your back and it's only a matter of time. Visa can do pretty much what they want -- if that means that they have Visa International terminate the IPSPs merchant account because they're breaking the Visa USA rules, so be it... not much can be done.

Better to pay the extortion/protection (oh, I'm sorry -- processing) fees and have a much higher probability of being around for the long haul.

rowan 08-01-2003 02:21 PM

Is that katecam? Isn't she from the UK, but now living in the USA? If she's still a EU citizen she may be able to 'legally' process with ccbilleu without needing to pay the $750.

If it's someone else then ignore this msg. :Graucho

matulo 08-01-2003 03:07 PM

Well, Globill processed via VISA US ... only US got stupid things and rules ... see Visa US, Acacia, Bush, and the list goes on ...

doesn't want to pay the $750? does she use free hosting? does she use cheap $10 webcams?

you don't have to pay a fee for mastercard right? if she doesn't have the 750. setup with ccbill for mastercard and use probilling for visa. give a discount for people who use mastercard so you direct more business to ccbill until you can get the 750 for the visa fee. then maybe just use probilling as a back up or something.

Carrie 08-01-2003 03:14 PM

She can use CCBill for free (no setup fees, but of course the percentage of profits apply) right now. Easy signup, fill out the form online, the guys will install the system on your site for you etc etc and you're ready to go.

The only thing is, you *can't* accept Visa right away.
So do that, accept Mastercard, JCB, and Diner's as well as dialers and checks (if you want) and work up enough money to pay the $750 fee. Once she's got it, she can simply pay it and have the Visa option turned on.

If she simply *must* have Visa, then on her join page she can offer Visa payment capability through ProBilling or through an AVS system like ProAdult.
To pay with your Visa, click here!
To pay with Mastercard, JCB, or Diner's club, click here!
No credit card? Click here to pay by check or phone!
etc etc

The Visa fees have really screwed up people's thinking about CCBill. It does not cost anything to get a CCBill account - it ONLY costs to set up processing with Visa.

Wouldn't this be violating mastercard's rules about not using their marks on your pages?

We looked to see if we could do a drop-down box to select billing, however we kind of figured that it's in violation of the mastercard rules (and I'm sure the others have similar rules).

Anyone who knows more about that and if that's a violation of the rules care to tell me I'm wrong (please :) ). Would be great if we could pre-select the billing method (not for the same reasons, but for some other reasons involving the new MC "complete shopping experience" stuff).

If you want to give your friend good advice, just ask her this:

Did she lose more than $750 thanks to Glo-Bill trying to dodge Visa regulations? How many times does she want to jump to a loophole biller, instead of paying a mere $750 for financial stability.

PbG 08-03-2003 05:02 PM

She could always

Seems like so many people are missing the point in all this.

For one this is not Visa closing merchant accounts because of
chargebacks. This is *not* what closed OXBill, Cardsgate, Globill,
and ECS. What messed up these businesses is that their *bank*
was forced to jump through hoops by Visa. The target was the
banks, not the individual merchant accounts.

For seconds non-US webmasters have almost no options.

Yes we can incorporate in the US, pay US taxes, report to Visa
and the IRS and have Visa send all our transaction reports to the
US government.

However for non-US webmasters this is not the option we'd like
to choose. We are in a situation where the US is pretty much our
last and only temporarily safe option.

The problem is everyone is saying we're stupid and rules
dodgers.... Truth is we're just trying to do business without
setting up new companies in the US. We are *not* US
businesses and should *not* need a US presence in order to
participate in global business. We are *not* trying to dodge a
tiny $750 fee. We are just trying to do global business. Global
business is *not* "only US companies can play". I can't believe so
many people think "play by the rules you dodgy prick" is a valid
response to such a serious issue for non-US business.

Next time any of you feel like saying "just pay the fee and play by
the rules". Stop and think. Is that actually a valid option for the
person you're suggesting it to? In a lot of cases webmasters are
not asking for a fee loophole. They simply want to do business by
the rules in their country/zone. However playing by those rules
can mean your bank may be pulled out from under you if Visa
continues to ask non-US banks for stricter reporting.

The problem is the people who say pay the fees and get over it are fucking morons and don't have a fucking clue what they are talking about. Some of us were using globill for years, PRIOR to that visa extortion fee. Some of use weren't even running paysites but used globill to present a familiar face to the adult industry. So to you clueless, pig ficking cum stains, a hearty fuck right off and go back to your spamming your viagra.

hegreryan 08-03-2003 08:38 PM

ccbill is probably the best one out there, but 2000charge is very good too...

affiliatecash 08-03-2003 11:56 PM

You know.... maybe everyone should do this. Make their Visa memberships cost more to direct sales through Mastercard. It will be a passive-aggressive way to protest the Visa regulations... If their profits start dropping then they'll have to re-think the registration fees...

But then again, people tried to do this with gas stations and it didn't go anywhere...
