Actually, my situation is not THAT bad. I make 6 figures and I am pretty certain I could have been making 7 now if not for the following reasons:

(1) I run 5 pay sites, 4 of which are official model/pornstar sites. I pay the girls way too much, I think. They get 60% of all revenue generated by their respective sites and I pay ALL site related expenses out of my end. (And none of them have ever fucked me - LOL).

(2) I never pushed the affiliate program that hard. I get a good number of affiliates in spite of the lack of effort but if I pushed it hard I know I could do MUCH better.

(3) I am a LOUSY businessman. I have a personal distaste of hardcore porn so I do only softcore (some of my girls FORCE me to do HC for their sites). I'm sure my surfers want more HC but I just can't bring myself to give it to them. The very sight of male semen makes me puke.

(4) I have a very limited market. I only do BIG BOOBS. Always have and probably always will. By contrast, the bigger sponsors have several sites covering many nices. It is true that most of the big boob site offerings from these sponsors SUCK DOGGIE-DO because they really don't UNDERSTAND the big boob surfer (yes, Brad, even yours). But that's really not the main issue. They cover every niche and have enough traffic to make all their sites successful. ANY SITE can be a success with enough traffic.

(5) I have always approached the business more like an artist than like a businessman. (Maybe this should go under the heading of my being a LOUSY businessman). I've spent too much money on high quality exclusive content of women I personally found to be hot rather than just packing my members' areas full of tons of cheap nonexclusive stuff. A smart businessman knows how to SPEND money, not just MAKE it.

(6) I am very SLOW to adopt the latest technology. When people were doing php I was still trying to figure out SSI. When people were doing flash I was still trying to learn photoshop. A smart businessman can usually spot an technological advancement from the a mile away and is quick to jump on it. (I still know SHIT about php, btw).

(7) I lack discipline. I doubt ANYONE could make a million bucks a year today without at least SOME discipline. I take long breaks from building and promoting sites. Good business people have the discipline to stick with it regardless of how much they feel like fucking around. Brad himself said in one of his posts that he ONLY goes to conventions to make deals (i.e., money) and not to fuck around. No wonder he is as successful as he is.

(8) I piss most of my money away, usually on strippers, hookers, and alcohol, instead of investing it. Millionaires INVEST. Brad mentioned earlier that he was into real estate. Millionaires don't blow their money. Ever hear the story of the rich guy and the poor guy walking down the street? The rich guy drops a penny on the ground and then bends over to pick it up. The poor guy says "dude, you're a millionaire. Why bend over to pick up a fucking penny?" The rich guy answers: "Son, how do you think I got to be a millionaire?"

So these are a few of the reasons why Brad Shaw drives a Ferrari and I still drive a Taurus. The complete irony in all this is that every year I still make twice what I made the year before and believe it or not, I'm on pace to do it this year too. So maybe there's still hope for me.
