No disrespect meant to DMoney...BUT....

Every week there is a problem with the audio feed on the show and I usually get booted from the chat room multiple times each show as well.

Since these are known issues...Why are they not being fixed by the people who run this shit?

Sly_RJ 07-29-2003 12:28 PM

I've tried to listen to the show twice. Tried.

:(

Amputate Your Head 07-29-2003 12:28 PM

I kept getting some kind of corrupt file error... couldn't even play the audio to find out if it was working or not....

so I bolted. Got other things to do rather than try to figure out why that shit's not working.

quiet 07-29-2003 12:29 PM

i'm having major problems with it today

ditto

BradShaw 07-29-2003 12:29 PM

I came home early from fucking dentist to listen, and can't. Dentists suck.

ElvisManson 07-29-2003 12:31 PM

I keep getting buffered...which sucks...but as Darren mentioned in an earlier thread that only 400 people can listen at anyone time.....

Who ever thought that more than 400 people would tune into his Show? ( no diss intended).

I will be listening to the archive right afterwards. :thumbsup

FATPad 07-29-2003 12:32 PM

Tried listening. Gave up.

Not sure why if they knew this was going to be a huge show they didn't plan for it.

Oliver Klozov 07-29-2003 12:32 PM

Same problem here, very frustrating!

Probably for the best anyway. I need to catch a plane to Miami in 18 hours and I still have to finish some client projects and get packed.

You think Acacia will let us use their internet connection on the showroom floor to catch the archives? :Graucho

ytcracker 07-29-2003 12:34 PM

acacia sabotage

Quick! Get a patent for having internetconnections in a hotelroom and use it.

Sassyass 07-29-2003 12:35 PM

How much for the tickets to the party?

Amputate Your Head 07-29-2003 12:36 PM

Hey D Money... tell Acacia their invention fucking sucks... they need to get a tech team on it right away and fix that shit.

SleazyDream 07-29-2003 12:40 PM

damn streams don't work

- someone should SUE acacia since they seem to think they have the patents on streams

FuqALot 07-29-2003 12:41 PM

Is there a patent on having patents.

BradShaw 07-29-2003 12:41 PM

From the 15 seconds here and there that I am hearing, d$ is doing an excellant job.

Danny_C 07-29-2003 12:41 PM

I finally gave up after 30 minutes.

JFK 07-29-2003 12:42 PM

here I tought it was something with my PC , I tried the show for the last 3 weeks running and it keeps fucking up ! Glad I am not alone ( misery loves company)

- because the reboot and refresh rate on their IRC chat interface is set too low.

- because the show cannot handle as many streams as are required when "heavy duty" guests come on.

Remember, this is still new technology...how many people couldnt hear the World Series on radio a few decades ago? How many people got pissed when thier cable service dropped out during the superbowl?

Some things are out of the hands of some people.

BRISK 07-29-2003 12:50 PM

I listened to 40 minutes and then it just stopped :(

Spunky 07-29-2003 12:52 PM

It seems to work fine for me? *shrugs*

doober 07-29-2003 12:56 PM

Shit!!
From the audio cutting out every 10 seconds to the chat booting me it was a total let down....especially for people that were tying to call in and ask questions its really shitty!

The archives won't be very interesting if none of the GFY brain trust -- no, that is not an oxymoron -- could get through to ask questions.

Acacia reported in their live (streamed) webcast conference call that they have signed a licensing agreement with LodgeNet for video on demand in hotel rooms.

D-Money 07-29-2003 02:25 PM

It's frustrating to me as well.

The hosting of the live streams are done with another company's servers and bandwidth, not ours.

So, they have 4 T-1 lines broadcasting.

Not enough, we know.

But realize, it wasn't really an issue until the past couple of weeks when we had crazy big turn outs.

So now we understand that we will need more juice, other options for accommodating those needs are in the works and will be implemented as soon as we can.

Bare with us, at least we don't have problems with the archives since that's on my server. Everyone can still listen.

Sorry for the inconvience.

Carrie 07-29-2003 02:26 PM

I was able to listen to the whole show, definitely download the archive and listen to it. Robert Berman spins so well he makes Clinton look weak.

Sharpie 07-29-2003 02:41 PM

Quit whining and listen to the archieves.

Most all the shows have the problem from time to time, when they have huge turnouts. It's not like they have that many people EVERY week. Just be glad you are given the opportunity to get to 'know thine enemy a little better.

True that! Every other phrase was meant to enforce the concept that they not only have us over a barrel but our cause is hopelessly lost.

I heard a lot of misinformation from him concerning "prior art", for instance. He completely ignored the fact that it can be used to prove "obviousness of the claims by someone familiar with the art", which would be enough to invalidate their patent(s).

MicroChick 07-29-2003 02:43 PM

D$, I caught the show on the way to the airport. Great work. Thanks for asking some outstanding quesitons.:thumbsup

BradShaw 07-29-2003 02:45 PM

Can someone post a link to the archives please?

They've had that for a while.

D-Money 07-29-2003 02:46 PM

Archive is up in the other thread.
