Why doesn't chmod work?
In my FTP prog, I go through the process of chmod, and it seems to be fine, but it doesn't change anything.
I'm not getting any error messages, it just doesn't seem to change anything. Anyone ever experience this? |
uhm, do you have permissions to be chmod'ing?
Telnet in and give it a whirl. |
I assume you know CHMOD does nothing on a Windows server. Are you using WS_FTP? WS_FTP has some problems refreshing directories. The permissions will get changed but they won't get updated in the file list.

from m$'s site. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH! that sounds like one of those good "ice-breaker" jokes for lame parties! :winkwink: |
If you can login the shell you can see easily what's going on.
Never ever use Telnet, use SSH, SSH2 |
Just refresh dirs and you're good.

chmod is fun.
