I think they did sell it. There is a name change or something, but dont ask me what it is. The whole saga is a huge dissapointment Adult Check is going back to its core products, from which they never should have deviated in the first place:2 cents:

Im screwed :321GFY ByeBye rebills, this is gonna cost me 6 digits unless they work something out.
Lie: After discussions with the banks, we have decided to change our name to EGS Pay. We've been sending checks from Electronic Gateway Services since we launched, so this name will more accurately reflect the company and its operations. This also means we'll be switching accounts with the banks, so transactions will once again be pending for a few days, and processed next week. Lie: Hi, everyone. We're still waiting on the bank at this point. I understand that this is extremely difficult for everyone, and all I can do is ask for your patience. As everyone is paid on a three-week delay, this has not affected anyone's payout, and we should have things returned to normal very soon. Lie: We appreciate your patience during the past few weeks. We've been working around the clock, and are pleased to announce that EGS Pay is in the process of being acquired by a large e-commerce company. We expect to issue a detailed joint press release tomorrow, and processing of new and pending sales will resume shortly thereafter. Three strikes your out!!! |

This is from EGSPay:
Recent months have not been easy for any of us, as we have all had to make significant changes in the way we do business. A worldwide recession, governmental regulation, and increased pressure from card associations and banks have combined to make the adult industry a more challenging place to do business. In response to that environment, and after much consideration, we have decided that we can best serve our clients by focusing on our core competencies--Adult Check and affiliate programs such as AC Movie Pass (ACMP), AC Prime, and AC Sex Toys. We appreciate your patience during the past few weeks. We've been working around the clock, and are pleased to announce that EGS Pay is in the process of being acquired by a large e-commerce company. We expect to issue a detailed joint press release tomorrow, and processing of new and pending sales will resume shortly thereafter. The past year has seen dramatic industry and economic shifts, and we have realigned our staffing and priorities have to address these changes. To adapt to the current environment, we will phase out the existing incarnations of AC Free and Gay Mega Sites (GMS) to focus on our core products. Beginning August 1, 2003, AC Free will no longer purchase email addresses from its clients. Any credits accrued through that date will be paid out according to our regular payment schedule. Existing AC Free sites will remain online, allowing clients to continue to receive upsells from existing members. On August 15, 2003, we will remove the GMS links list. Vendors will retain existing rebills and continue to be paid. We will soon add a large amount of content to Club GMS to better serve existing members and assist with retention. Existing GMS sites will be grandfathered into the AC Gold program on a fast track, despite the fact that some of them may not meet the program's new 1000-picture minimum standard. Please contact Bryan at [email protected] to begin the process of migrating your sites. Our core business is strong, stable, and profitable. Adult Check remains the first and largest product of its kind, ACMP continues to maintain an average membership retention of more than 8-months. Adult Check, ACMP and our other affiliate programs will continue to lead the industry. These programs have always been successful and profitable for everyone involved, and with additional resources to build on the industry's first, largest, and most reliable platform, they will become more profitable in the future. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused. Our new management is focused on providing our clients with the best of what we do. By reducing the number of peripheral products we will be supporting, we can and will provide improved service for our core offerings. Please rest assured that all future development will be directed toward these efforts. We will, for instance, shortly unveil a new content area for AC members and a trouble-ticket system for clients that will allow us to provide much more efficient webmaster support. We will soon announce additional exciting new innovations for our core products. We value your business. In our six-year history, we have never missed a payout, and we will continue to provide our clients with the industry's best products and the highest possible standard of service. We look forward to a continued good relationship, and increased focus and profitability for all of us. Sincerely, Tim Umbreit President I thought ACPay had stopped processing already and sticking with their original model. There is something in AVN that indicated this. |

I guess I should have used the broadcast email feature to warn all my affiliates yesterday while I was thinking about it. At least I got screen shots, I screen shot my IPSP's on a daily basis now.
I feel they have lied about this as well...In retrospect EGS Pay was spun off from AC almost certainly so it could be sold. The bit about waiting on banks is probably 100% BS. The recent article on AVN sort of supports this theory. Maybe we will wake up tomorrow to find the join pages pointing to Ibill or whomever has bought them out. Maybe we will never see them, or our cash again. At least Globill came right out and said "Sorry we're screwed".. If AC Pay had done this on the 10th it would have been better for all. |
How do you think I'm going to get along,
Without you, when you're gone You took me for everything that I had, And kicked me out on my own Are you happy, are you satisfied How long can you stand the heat Out of the doorway the bullets rip To the sound of the beat Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust There are plenty of ways you can hurt a man And bring him to the ground You can beat him You can cheat him You can treat him bad and leave him When he's down |
And another one
|
and now its back up, still hope :winkwink:

Wasn't there a message Friday on Acpay's webboard saying that a final announcement would be made Monday?
I had seen an older link on here and just followed it to the webmasters message board, and that was the most recent post I saw last friday afternoon. There were several responses to that message about different things, but no response to those questions. That's all I know about it right now. |

I remember reading some posts here last year about verotel, and supposedly how they were trying to skate around the new visa regulations and so forth. If i recall verotel also skated around the $750 reg fees etc. Ill look in the archives and try to dig it up |

I think that third party is fucked. I am desperately trying to get a merchant account ASAP.
|
I think so too.
I am already hard at work on getting a merchant account. whether onshore or offshore, third party is fucked. I give that whole industry another year, max. Visa/MC simply want all merchants to be merchants and go direct through a bank like in the 'good old days'. |
I'm soooooo glad I got out of the paysite game.....
