Photographers - Answer this
I'm not a pro photographer, I just have my Sony F717 for casual stuff, but I'd like to get a wide angle lens.
Sony sells these two lenses for my camera, but I'm not sure what the difference is between the two. Lens #1: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...YAAAD2s0kIL5io Lens #2: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...0AAAD2LWoIL5in What is the difference between these two lenses? They both seem to be for taking wide angle shots, so whats the difference? |
From what I can tell - the lens for $399 is for a camcorder while the other is not. Appears to be the only difference to me ?

The larger one will give you better results because it is a larger diam. (more light) and better quality glass. (those 2 pics are not to scale) The larger has 58mm threads and the smaller you need to use an adapter to get to 58mm. they both will work on the f717 because that camera is basicly a video camera type lens setup. (not SLR) Your not really looking thru the lens, your looking at a miniature lcd display that's displaying the ccd's output.
I would probably go with the smaller one because the larger would look kinda funny on that little sony camera and would really throw it off balance and make it harder to handle. It's not going to be a night and day difference between the two (just a little) so for just casual stuff I wouldn't worry about the loss of quality of the smaller one. Cheers, BV |
