GFY Post Strategy Explained + Historical Info
 

A significant part of your post strategy should involve carefully choosing who you bump. This is a list of who I bump...

1. Friends
2. Biz partners
3. Smart/Successful people
4. Interesting/Entertaining people
5. Webmaster celebrities
6. "I shot this new model" (post only if she is hot)
7. New Female posters (just in case she's a real person)
8. Persistent/Dedicated people (high post count/rate)

Reading all the thread titles is a waste of time... Once you are an <u>established webmaster</u> you will be able to scan the thread list very quickly. See if anyone important has posted -- then you scan only those threads. This saves time and now the more important people will notice you.

1. Pretty much anyone on your ICQ list should be bumped. It's bad taste to send GFY links through ICQ all the time -- that's just annoying, but having a good network of ICQ post buddies can really help you to launch a thread that needs to be seen. In a sense you can call in all your favors at once and make something explode in popularity. The last time I did this I launched a thread about corn that absolutely proved a point -- that I could launch a complete nonsense thread into popularity just using my connections -- sometimes you just need to flex your muscles.

A classic muscle flexer is 12Clicks. Look at his thread "for the next whatever hours I will answer all newbie questions" -- every time that thread gets bumped it's like he's saying, "see look at my huge cock" and all these fucking posts in my thread!

Anyone that you meet at internext that made a good impression with you can probably fall into this category. For instance VirtuMike really impressed me at a dinner once -- I never talk to him nor do I do any biz with him, but I'll bump his threads and now he knows that I remember meeting him...

2. Biz partners. This is where you can be tacky. If I'm doing a blatantly obvious bump, it's clear that I support the person that started the thread -- in a business sense. Bump your sponsors and bump your hosts! You probably never talk to these people very often on ICQ because they are usually too busy -- don't annoy busy people and they will appreciate it...

3. Take for example KRL. The guy is just smart -- he obviously has interesting business experience and he knows his technology. I don't need to see that he has 5000 posts in order for me to recognize that he's a guy to read carefully. 12Clicks could also fall into this category. I don't do biz with 12Clicks, he is not my friend, and I've never met him -- and frankly I think he is fine with that :) 12Clicks falls into the celebrity category because his success pre-dates GFY. These categories aren't exclusive, but inclusive.

4. GFY is always a place that's entertaining at night when most people are drinking alcohol or smoking weed -- and Lord knows some of these people are doing hard drugs too. Sometimes these "nonsense threads" can be a lot of fun (my personal taste) and there are certain GFY characters that will always be fun to "shoot the shit" with... Guys like Redshoe and Wildcard can really fuck with your head. I think quiet and fletch are notorious for starting "what are you drinking/smoking tonight" threads... These threads remind me of my favorite bar -- where I get to hear sad songs and sad stories about guys losing their wife, their fortunes, their cars and their houses -- nostalgia, etc.

5. Who are they? Newbs won't know, unless they surfed porn "way back" in the 90's :) You got greenguy, persian kitty, tommy's bookmarks, shemp, adult buffet, al4a, sleazydream and a few others. These are old freesites that many people remember -- especially the important people -- the people that are in this biz for the long haul. If you bump these threads you get to go down in history! Usually if a celebrity webmaster posts, they don't have some ulterior motive... Essentially they are here because they love their job. I remember reading an interview that PK did -- she said that she started her site just to see how many hits she could get. I can still remember my first graphical counter. I don't care what anyone says -- having somebody visit my website for the first time was a big rush. Remember "guestbooks" ?

6. Why are most of us in this biz? We like looking at really fucking hot women. Nuff said.

7. If you want my strategies for pimping the females, you have to join my information resource site. Maybe you're married, but who cares? When I'm at Internext and a really beautiful blonde comes up to me out of nowhere and puts her arm around me -- that's a Kodak moment :)

8. I made this a rule just because of Boneprone. When I first met the guy on ICQ -- for a while he was annoying as hell. He would ICQ me all day hustling me for traffic. He would even get violent sometimes -- he had a temper... but I soon realized that his persistence and dedication to his work was one thing that made him so successful. After his site exploded in popularity, it was already clear to me that an aggressive webmaster can make it big. BUT there's a fine line between being tactful and being aggressive. Some people are just annoying and they stay annoying -- like Lawrence Conner. So far I see no redeeming qualities in Lawrence Conner -- he just annoys the fuck out of everyone. I tried to keep an open mind, but some people are just beyond help.

So in conclusion: Think about who you bump -- who you support. Your time is precious. Don't waste time with haters, jump into the hot threads early, hit the 50 marks, diversify your posting strategy, craft your GFY persona, work the postcount and bump TheFLY's threads -- you will be a better person for it!

Most of the people on GFY do not (get to) go to the industry events. Yet The Fly seems to arrive on the scene quite frequently.

And this is waht the Fly is, The GFY Jester. The Fly got in during the boom when anyone could make money. Since then he has no sites, no traffic, nada. Without GFY he would be broke. The only income he has is from free traffic and money he gets from oldtimers that feel sorry for him, and newbies who actually think he is someone that can make things happen. You think he is paying for all these internext appearances? LOL, he is getting the money from guys who are naive enough to think he can actually help them make some money.

It's no secret I hate the Fly's guts, and for many good reasons. Do a search on him here in GFY, look at some of his claims and bashes on people. The Fly is such a fake person.
