why do companies do this to themselves?
 

i've been doing a lot of research into local web design services, just to see basically what my competition is. from what i've been finding so far, it's horrfyingly pathetic. i mean, really. these sites BLOW. i've been planning on doing a little local marketing to expand more into mainstream than what i have, and it's really disgusting. some of these companies pull out big ads in the phone book, and their portfolio looks like something that might have been good when i was in high school, but even then for a professional image, isn't that great.

seriously, what are people thinking? all these design services are done by people that are middle-aged housewives that learned a few basic html skills and think they can make a corporate website (about 2 years ago i actually called some of these "firms" doing some local market research for someone i was contracting for). good god, it's scary. i mean, almost makes me want to email the design firms and ask them what they're smoking. this stuff is _really_ bad. yuck!

i've even seen some stuff recently that was created by fairly decent or reputable designers, and their stuff is full of errors and just looks bad aesthetically in general... sometimes the design looks good, but they just can't put it together.

there's only about one _really_ awesome design firm around here... they're basically the shit in the area. a lot of college students apprentice there. but it really boggles my mind with all the talent out there that so many local businesses chosse these to represent them. ugh.

lol funny you just posted this, I was reading a local newspaper and there ar4e a few design companies advertising there, the sites look like they where done in 1993 by a 90 year old color blind woman

i went crazy with notepad.. exxccuuuussee me! hehehhe

lol... yeah, there _are_ good firms out there, but it seems around here they are few and far between...
