With the continuing demise of "credit" on the adult internet, I started thinking about one of the simplest ways of making payment to an adult site.

And I'm talking about good old CASH! (Well, cash in the terms of of Cashiers Checks/Money Orders).

What if a person offered say a 6 or 9 month membership that was really low (much lower than say 6 1-month memberships in a row), but you had to pay for it by way of CASH/MO/CashCheck?

You have yourself a PO BOX they send the money to and you don't have to worry about chargebacks and they get a great deal on membership.

It's too damn simple! :) So simple that there must be drawbacks.:(

If so..what are they?

Just curious now, but how impulsive are porn spenders? And I know if it was me I am NOT waiting for you to receive my money order then email a week later with a password. Just my thoughts

Good point. But at the same time..how CAUTIOUS are a lot too?
Meaning that many of them are just a tad nervous of that charge showing up on their credit card and having to explain it to their wife/husband/boyfriend:) etc.

In the "gay industry" the closet is still pretty full!

If they can't wait..then they still have the option of joining with credit cards. I didn't say REMOVE that option, but offer it in ADDITION at a "special rate".

The biggest con is verifying the age of the person. But yeah, I've received personal checks & cash for memberships before. Even seen a few signups to Pro Adult that way. Surprised they actually credited my account!

But how do most people verify it now..by clicking a link that says "Click here only if you are 18 years of age or older!"?

And will that type of verification stand up in a court of law.
Plus, credit cards have now been "demoted" as defacto proof of age.

Maybe they simply add a note saying "I'm 18 and want porn!":)

Been taking cash / money order since the beginning. It used to be the only option for European viewers. You need to keep them coming back to your free site to tempt them, though. They have to really want the membership. If they complain about the price, just say "every time you visit my site, put a dollar in an envelope. Next month, send it to me and you'll have a membership!" WOrks best for amateur/personal sites, I guess.
