Reason being that I have a merchant account for my other stuff and depending on your sales volume it can be easy for fraudulent shit and cb's scammers to slip by you real fast. Then your rates go up and so on. For adult I am sure you can get one maybe with a high fee but you will have to police your sales.

Another thing with amex at least with me I am on probation meaning since i just opened it with them anybody i mean anybody does a cb on me its automatic meaning I cant dispute it.

Also if your server gets hacked and 1000's of cc numbers fall into wrong hands , if you dont notify amex for example within i think 48 hours you are pretty much liable.

"anyone can get one"
- But... Do you really want one? Thats the real question.

I set up merchant acccounts at work, if you have been in business for a little while you can get a merchant account pretty fast. I can walk you through it and tell you what you need. Just let me know- I wll do this as a public service on my time if you like. I can go through my contacts and help you find the best rates.

when you do get a merchant account

I suggest using netbilling for your gateway, there system is top notch, not the best looking interface but it works really well

I agree...

Ugly as hell, but with all the features you need and more. Good configurable fraud control options too. We have used them 2 1/2 years with very few problems.

With the new regs facing the IPSP's everyone will need to watch for fraud on their accounts -- not just those with their own merchant accounts. If not, there will be a lot more crying the next months as the new rates kick in.

ya its easy to get a merchant account, get with www.netbilling.com
they will set it all up for you, you can choose to use their fraud data base if you want also.
we have been with them a long time.

Hi All,

Thanks for the kind words. Our admin is ugly?
We are actually working on some skin changes now.

The reason why many adult webmasters do not get a merchant account is mainly because of mis-information. Before Netbilling and other complete gateway solutions, if you did not go third party, you had to scrub your own transactions, manage your own member database, and handle your own customer service. This is simply not the case any longer (and has not been for several years now).

We help setup merchant accounts every day of the week for adult and mainstream merchants.

Another reason why more adult webmasters have been shy to get a merchant account is because they used to be able to hide under the merchant account of the ISSPs and avoid being terminated and/or fined. We all know that this changed as of last November and have since seen four 3rd party processors go our of business and take all of their clients and $$$ with them.

If you can make the initial investment for the Visa/.Mastercard registration fees, fill out all of the paperwork, and have your site in compliance with terms and conditions, you will save money, have control and be very happy with your own merchant account, coupled with a Netbilling processing account.

Have a great night.

Thank you, Mitch Farber

By the way, you should not take the risk of maintaining card numbers yourself.

That is our job!

Mitch

What are the total fees to setup an adult merchant account?

What is the minimum monthly sales volume?

And what are Netbilling's fees (setup and ongoing)?

ozzymandius 07-26-2003 10:12 AM

Looks like netbilling is goint to really clean up with all the changes going on in this industry.
