regardless how careful you are with your credit card if you use it alot sooner or later you will be a victim of CC Fraud.

If there a company that can issue you say 100 visa numbers that you can use once only?

u can do that with mbna credit cards

I don't think so but Visa will require a pin number to process transactions soon.. I think it will help avoiding fraud

Why go through the trouble yourself trying to prevent it? If your a victum of cc fraud, just call your cc company and resolve it.. fill out a dispute form, most cc companies will take care of any fraud

There was some cc company offering that a couple years ago, but I think they discontinued it.

Essentially you used your card to buy a one time use number direct from the company. Once you shopped with it the number would be invalidated.

Like I got screwed when I wrote my credit card number on a FedEx slip.

you can configure yor "Maestro" card to that... Its one of Mastercards "sister cards"-- try to talk to you bank about that

Citicards allow you a Virtual VISA number for online transactions, its updated monthly though I believe, not sure about that though.
