Ya that's the best "affordable" one... there is a kickass on but I can't remember the name. Its like $5k, but could be worth depending on what you do..

DatingGold 07-24-2003 07:29 PM

I found it...

Its called jackhammer, it's down to $2500, not bad.

With Overture suing FindWhat and Google over the patent they claim they own on the PPC model are you sure you want to start a PPC?

Its guaranteed to work on your server (we install free) and as for customizability, I have several coders who can take on another project at will.

So what you're saying is that even though I already warned him against starting a PPC because he's going to have the same trouble with Overture that the rest of us are having with Acacia, you'll still be happy to take his money. Or am I missing something here?

If the guy WANTS to start a PPC SE, you really think I, or any other programmer would not sell it to him? Get real.

You warned him, now he gets to make up his own mind.

My bad. I guess I was projecting my ideals onto you, thinking that since I would have a moral problem with selling someone a useless product that other business people might feel the same way. Obviously in your case I was mistaken.

If someone comes to me that obviously doesn't have the first clue about how to run a website and asks me to design a pay site for them I tell them no. That's how I live with myself knowing that I would never knowingly rip someone off by selling them something I knew they didn't need or couldn't use.

nuclei 07-24-2003 07:57 PM

Yeh, and if that same guy goes to wal-mart and buys a weed whacker and lops off his toe because he didnt know how to use it, I spose wal-mart should feel bad about selling it to him when he obviously didnt know what he was doing, even tho he went there specifically to buy a weed whacker.

Overture didnt start PPC, actually some man thought up the idea, I read it on a inventions site on the net.

He couldnt be sued by overture, that man in a one horse town would actually own any right to any ppc out there.

Maybe overture was one of the first LARGE ones out there, and maybe they TRY to say they invented it, but just like Acaia or whatever, they didnt.

Maybe you should read this because you apparently are misinformed.

Gossamer Threads make an awesome product called Links SQL ($450) + ($1500 for the PPC plugin).

Got a URL for this?

pimplink 07-24-2003 11:08 PM

Assuming the Overture business method patent stands up in court..... does this mean the end for all PPC outfits even like 12clicks' Standard Internet? Something tells me that the answer is no.

I read up on this issue. You raised a good point. Definitely need to rethink the PPC model so it is outside of Overture's patent claims.
