Cascaded billing with new MC regulations..
Hi,
I was considering using that but now I'm not that sure.. Looks like cascading will not be possible with MC anymore, or am I wrong? I really appreciate any info/news about that. Thanks..:) |

the way i understand it, you just have to give them a choice to leave your billing system or continue shopping AFTER their purchase. it doesn't say you can't give them the option of trying another card if the first biller fails. I'd say just always leave a door open to exit and you're within compliance.
You might want to ask the guys at MP2 though. |
Hi,
I am not sure about the other processors but nothing will be changing on the Netbilling join pages and there is no "Shopping mall" required for those with thier own accounts through Netbilling. Our integraton with MPA2 will not change at all. You can also still display the Visa and Mastercard logo, display your price and process free trials if you wish including cross-sells. Mitch |

Well, all that aside... Cascading billing should have no real problems with this. Though honestly if I were a processor these days I would stop processing someone elses leftovers immediately. |
The way I read CCBill's notice, you can't offer the two step join process because Mastercard doesn't think you have a right to the customer's address. I have no idea why this is the case, as that information can limit fraud, but then again, Mastercard profits from fraud.
I can envision the two step join to have to go to three: Step 1 - Email address, and card type. Step 2 - Everything else except card number, expiration, and cvv2. Step 3 - Actual card information. This could be good because you could even do an initial screen based on their email address. This should satisfy Mastercard because if their transaction is mastercard, you would pick your third party at step 1, and then route the transaction straight to the third party at step 2 so you don't harvest their information. If the card is mastercard you would only have a two step join. But what do I know? |
The more I think about this the more surprised I am whenever a transaction actually happens.
There is so much data out there and so many forces and so many factors and so many companies involved that it's really a miracle when all the stars line up and allow a transaction through. Think about it. Add to that the immense probability that the customer just wants free porn, they can't fype their address with a boner occupying one of their hands, their address is rarely exact on the credit card bill, and your tour offers them exactly what they want. It's mind boggling and depressing at the same time, just like thinking about the grain of sand theory and your position in the universe (if you took a grain of sand from the beach, did you really take a grain of sand? Because the beach has so many and that grain is so irrelevant. So too are we all irrelevant, well most of you all anyway.) I need some tea. |

Thanks for all the info,
I guess what I really like to know is if cascading will be possible technically. As I know most of the cascading software takes all the customer information excluding cc type & details, fills the required fields automaticaly and if it denied moves to next processor. But now there will be mc shopping cart in the process... Maybe separating visa/mc at the first step could help? |
We are working with the processors implemented with MPA2 to make the minor changes needed to stay compliant with the new MC rules. There are only a few webmasters this will affect.
