Back in the 70's an elementary I had attended taught the Evelyn Wood's speed reading lessons.

They would set up this projection screen for the whole class, and then a light would reveal a sentence from left to right kinda like a flashlight in the dark scanning something.

By the time you got to like the 3rd or 4th word the 1st and 2nd would already be out of view, of course it depended upon the speed.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I can read extremely fast and retain alot of information.

What it taught me to do was to scan for key elements in a paragraph, a plot point in a story, or an explanation of something in a school book.

Try it, I think you'll like it.

yes, practicing a little bit got me up to 700 tops but i would really like to go to 2-3000.

an old online friend of mine claimed to read at 7k, but he was very smart, not a genius but you know.

Just a bit to add.

I'm not one of those freakily fast readers in the thousands like was posted above me.

These lessons only lasted something like 4th and 5th grade.

But it did help out overall.

During the summer they would have those summer reading programs where you would get a prize for every 10 books you read.

It never failed, I would have to have my father write a note so I could be allowed to check out more than the maximum amount of books set for my age limit.

I would check out like 10 Hardy Boys books and if I remember correctly they would be 100+ pages.

Anyway, I'd go home and have them all finished that night.

I'd return to the Library and they would call my father to ask if I had really read them all...once that happened for the first 10 books and I got my prize they didn't bother me the rest of the summer.

so has anyone tried that infomercial
EyeQ
infmind.com
their is a demo on that site.

Just wondering if it's any good.

its an interesting program, it has 12 lessons you are supposed to do one per day, and they have a bunch of eye exercises which you run through, it takes like 6 minutes to do a session.

this is what i used to get to 700 but that was absolute top and i am not sure my comprehension is all there.

i am still working with it so i am hoping that i can do better than this once i can stop saying the words to myself as i read.

not sure if its worth the 200 you might be better off with a cheap 10 dollar evelyn wood book if your not too lazy to read it and practice every day.

at any rate if you get the full program you could really do all the lessons before your 15 dollar trial ran out.

HighRoller 07-23-2003 01:24 AM

That's what I was thinking is it the same 6 minute exercise?
I mse that doesn't seem like it's worth $200

You can change words, and speed, and numbers, phrases etc.

I will look into that evelyn wood thanks

Serious jd 07-23-2003 01:29 AM

no its not like that site at all actually although that looks interesting.

from what i know the evelyn wood program has been around for like 50+ years so there must be something to it, plus eros had some success as well :thumbsup
