Why does Google rank geocities so high?
 

Why doesn't Google stop linking to geocities sites and other cheap, annoying webpages like it?

What page do you think should be ranked #1 for "Michael Jordan Dunks"?

because those cheap websites often are better then expensive commercial websites.

because there are millions of people linking to geocities.com/whatever

How many people are there seraching for Michael jordan drunks anyway?

...bad example, but the point is still the same. I run into geocities webpages for LOTS of searches.

what's wrong with google linking geocities anyway?

I think that geocities sites have a bit of extra PR just because they are hosted on geocities... or does Google not work this way?
