I agree but hopefully the change won't happen until my patents are approved :Graucho

I own the patent on patent reform.

Are patent leather shoes really patented? And, if so, could the shoecam be considered an infringement?

TheJimmy 07-21-2003 10:55 PM

I own the patent on ballSACs...

if I choose to enforce it you will all cease to exist

I'm not sure I understand, Brujah: When someone invents or creates something, why shouldn't they own that invention or creation exclusively as long as they live? By what right should someone else derive benefit from it while they live, if EVER?

My approach is that of a PERSON owning an idea or creating something new. That whole article seems to assume that ideas and creative properties can only come from corporations.

In general, the idea of a "business method patent" is fucking stupid. That's like saying you can patent the idea of an auction or a car or a retail store.

Intellectual property laws are fine, as long as they don't go too far. In this case, the patent office has started issuing ridiculous patents which stop, rather than encourage, innovation.

You made no argument to support overbroad, ridiculous, obvious patents, you just threw out some nonsense attack trying to say that people are against all IP laws if they don't support stupid business method patents.

That's like saying you are against law and order if you don't support the death penalty for speeders. It makes no sense!

I remember when people actually invented things they patented. Now it's all a bunch of lawyers that steamroll right into the bank accounts of the legitimate corporations and people. There's no innovation there, it's just robbery based on laws that they themselves helped pass.
