You sound like an idiot. Rather than be hostile, perhaps its time you came to grips with reality.

Why not approach them and explain your problems with their licensing scheme?

Or will you act like a child all your life?

Project-Shadow 07-21-2003 12:28 PM

Acacia Suck Dick ^^

pornguy 07-21-2003 12:31 PM

Hey robo moron...

Have you ever heard of sarcasm???

Or is that above your IQ?

And do your self a favor, get out of this business while you can, because talking like that to someone you dont know will not help you.

pornguy 07-21-2003 12:32 PM

Yes project they do..

We heard that they have people surfing the net looking for people with video content...

Thanks for the tip!

You sir, are an inspiration.

pornguy 07-21-2003 12:34 PM

If you only knew.

Gemini 07-21-2003 12:35 PM

I guess the question should be, WHO sold them spaced and WHY? If no one did, have them escorted out.

Adult Site Traffic 07-21-2003 12:35 PM

They're just fighting to keep from going down the tubes man, can't blame them.

Wait just a bit, and you'll be able to buy their stock shares cheaper than Charmin :1orglaugh

AST 121760557

pornguy 07-21-2003 12:39 PM

actually their stock is only 1.50$ per...

So i guess that even with the tons that they promised the share holders did not help to make a diff...

But I think that I will buy some of the stock... Maybe like 51%

Why are you even on this board??

Do you have any idea what it is about??

Or better yet, do you have any idea??

Based on what you have in your sig, you dont have one!

Kimmykim 07-21-2003 01:03 PM

All you guys that are getting these should get together and make sure they are sending out the same demands for volume.

pornguy 07-21-2003 01:07 PM

Hey Kimmy,
I posted on the CE chat board about getting it, because they had a post sometime back that any webmaster that wanted to get with them on it should contact them.. So we are waiting to see where they are with it..

The funny thing is that the package that was sent is vague, and they do not give a deadline... I think that they are probably playing the game of, We gave you the time and now you owe 10X more!!!

OneHungLo 07-21-2003 01:22 PM

Are they going after anyone with video or anyone that streams video?

Haha, maybe all the porn companies should be banning together to buy up stock instead of fighting in court. :1orglaugh

pornguy 07-21-2003 01:27 PM

I think that it is streaming.. They have purchased the patents on a lot of things and now own the technology for streaming video...

I also just fond in the package that it includes download also...

that has been going around quite a bit lately.

how many people already have this in their portfolio?

pornguy 07-21-2003 01:32 PM

Robo what do you mean???

The type of content?? Video??

Most people have it.. So it will come down to when this company takes the time to go after everyone.

pornguy 07-21-2003 01:33 PM

As for the stock, most likly no one has it... Yet!

fishhead 07-21-2003 02:30 PM

i have TGP video galleries with downloadable MPEGS. I'm sure I'm getting this letter because of where I have bought my content in the past, but I'm not streaming the vids, they are for download.

fuck this company.

tony286 07-21-2003 02:33 PM

Anything to do with video they got from zips to streams.

yes, downloadable and streaming.

pornguy 07-21-2003 02:35 PM

If anyone else has gotten this go to

impai.org

They are trying to get everyone together to fight against this!

dchottie 07-21-2003 02:47 PM

ok someone explain this to me since I haven't gotten a packet yet from these guys nor have I seen the documents inside it.

Is it affecting anyone that provides streaming or downloadable content on their site regardless of whether it is owned content or leased content?

If you lease the content from Company X are they going after both you and Company X or are they going after the content provider solely or the web sites solely?

I'm sure this has been explained in other threads but I just want the short version of the answer....:)

pornguy 07-21-2003 03:20 PM

dchottie,

It has nothing to do with the content... About 1/4 of the content that we have I shot. it has to do with the method of delivery...
Digital delivery that these guys managed to get a us patent on.

dchottie 07-21-2003 04:03 PM

I understand it's about the method of delivery but what i'm getting at *sorry I wasn't more clear* who are they aiming at?

example: We lease streaming video from company x is acacia going to come after us for payment or the company we are leasing it from? or both

Serious jd 07-21-2003 04:13 PM

how can they have a patent on downloadable movies, wouldn't apple hold the patent on .mov files and such?

excuse me if i am ignorant. :helpme

Serious jd 07-21-2003 04:15 PM

i just read the new posts.. so they have a patent on downloading certain things? is that even possible? whats the difference between downloading a .mpg file and a large text file or a program?

zzgundamnzz 07-21-2003 04:29 PM

Is there an Acacia affiliate program?

Sly_RJ 07-21-2003 05:43 PM

Look everybody! Al Gore invented the Internet!

AdultKing 07-21-2003 05:46 PM

Have the extortionists at Acacia gone after anyone outside the USA ?

I don't think they can. At least not Canada and Europe. But it still presents problems for many people.

Time to go offshore?

The CombiMatrix Group presentation and Q&A will precede the Acacia Technologies Group presentation and Q&A session.

To listen to the presentation by phone, dial (800) 838-4403 for domestic callers and (973) 317-5319 for international callers. A replay of the audio presentation will be available for 30 days at (800) 428-6051 for domestic callers and (973) 709-2089 for international callers, both of whom will need to enter the code 301111 when prompted.

The call is being webcast by CCBN and can be accessed at Acacia's website at www.acaciaresearch.com.

Do you think Acacia is infriging other peoples patent by making their presentation available on phone lines.

Who has those patents???

Arty 07-21-2003 05:48 PM

Their claims also seems to cover Macromedia's flash..

As you can embed video into it now.. Or even without video it's practicaly the same thing because it always streams..

I wonder if they would go after them too..

Sly_RJ 07-21-2003 05:50 PM

Does Microsoft have any stock in adult? They need to sue Microsoft, then it would be all over.

Brujah 07-21-2003 05:59 PM

Settling so far we have:

VoiceMedia

and this group

VCA - Babenet
Alchemy
White Sands

Any others ?

They may in time..

right now they're applying a typical chicken shit strategy..
Go after the little guys and the porn industry to get a few wins established, then ease up the ladder to the bigger fish once the courts have ruled in their favor by defaults and due to jurors who don't like porn...

pornguy 07-21-2003 06:17 PM

We will be getting with our attorney right after we get back from internext.

I promise to post any info that we get that may help anyone and everyone.

If we, ( the adult webmaster community ) are not very careful, this entire way of life will be ripped out from under us.

Porn2Rock 07-21-2003 06:19 PM

CE has settled with Acacia.

But they also stipulated that if the patent is ruled to be invalid, their settlement agreement is void.

Bring their patent claims to Australia and see how they do! :1orglaugh

You have to ask some serious questions of a system that allows a company to claim 'ownership' of what essentially is internet hosted videos and music. Others have said the same thing, but I still find it amusing. If they win, and keep winning due to legal precident it could rip the internet as we know it a new asshole.

What makes you so sure? Have you heard this from your attorney?

If you do biz in the US, whether you're a Canadian or European corp, it looks like they will pursue you. I believe they also have patents, or applications, in long list of countries.

Contact spike at homegrownvideo.com if you have questions. He has spent more time with real life attorneys on this than anyone I know.
