Optin and Double Optin emails

Folks - I am STILL hunting for decent optin and double optin email addresses.

I would like 5-10% if your total list size to send a test to, to verify or get an idea of performance.

I need some decent lists so I can get some coin coming in. Please, no harvested junk, or stolen goods. Don't want a part in it.

Thanks! :thumbsup

Can you explain to me how an address is Opt In if you haven't explicitly asked to send people your stuff ?

It's not like anyone has lists of addresses that have given YOU permission to send them stuff ?

Optin from the perspective of the current owner to send them email.

As opposed to "harvested" which means no permission.

Optins usually have instructions or terms that say they can sell email address to someone else.

Hope that scares the morons away. Yeah - I'm talking to you.

rsharp 07-21-2003 01:03 AM

double opt in?

I think you mean confirmed opt-in.

'Double Opt in' was a term (as far as I know) created by the Direct Marketting Association.. possibly to make it seem like a backbreaking process to 'double opt in an email'. The correct term should be confirmed opt-in.

Why look for OptIn Email addresses?

Read:
http://mail-abuse.org/manage.html#Guidelines

Confirmation is as much of a standard today as me drinking my coffee at 4am in the morning... (ok bad example)

As long as we are being intelligent about this, I figured I would post these interesting facts for you, instead of the obvious 'flooding email boxes with crap is wrong'

Hope you plan on sending the emails morally, without harrassing people, and provide an obvious way for end users to stop receiving the email :) :2 cents:

teenjump 07-21-2003 01:05 AM

Confirming - that is a better term.

I don't link hotting.

rsharp 07-21-2003 01:14 AM

Oh, and in addition. It might be a smart move to contact places who have the Confirmed Opt in newletters, or j4f's going, and ask to place some serious ads in them.

Reguardless of the fine print, or people following the regulation of law, or standards in general.. as far as I can see if you Email a list of confirmed addresses, even if you went through the right processes of doing it, you will probably still get a lot of people complaining about spamming.

The reason ad space could be a wiser move is that you don't have to deal with running a risk of some angry mailbox-filled-with-porn surfers who do not recognize your Email as a partner Email sent in relationship to the server they originally subscribed to.

I personally hate signing up somewhere on the net, and then getting hundreds of partner Emails. They are just as bad as any spam to me. The fine print makes it legal, but never does it make it moral.

teenjump 07-21-2003 01:20 AM

Rsharp: Then never signup for bravenet.com :)

As far as Ive read this thread is a request to obtain legitimate confirmed email lists yes?

I have posted information on this.

You think this is antispam babble?
You haven't seen me get started on that subject.:ak47:

teenjump 07-21-2003 01:42 AM

$100 says you work for SPEWS.

rsharp 07-21-2003 01:45 AM

I guess I just won $100 then :)

How much do they pay? Maybe ill submit an application tonight. LOL

teenjump 07-21-2003 01:48 AM

They probably pay nothing, gathering how they act to their customers. Always bitchy, rude - and never willing to return calls and such.
They must recruit the SCUM of the universe.

We nicknamed it SCUMS

SPEWS is an advisory listing , it doesn't have customers.

teenjump 07-21-2003 02:02 AM

By customers I meant companies who use them, or try to be delisted by them.

Well the easiest solution is not get listed in the first place, but that would mean not spamming or not supporting spam.

I have no sympathy for spammers.

Gemini 07-21-2003 04:37 AM
