Abercrombie & Fitch Discriminating Against Hiring Minorities
 

I just caught the tail end of this on MSNBC Hardball with Chris Mathew. Basically they said they were only hiring employees that looked like the models in their adds. Did anyone get the full scoop on this?

So they're discriminating against ugly people?

Hmm I have noticed that their employees bear no familiarities to the likes of, say... Walmart or McDonalds employees.

Abercrombie is glutton for discrimination and punishment. At first, it was the Asian racial remarks on their t-shirts, then the playboy-like catalogs, now it's this?!?

Not really a minority is it?

i will stick to kmart clothes they are cheaper

Not really...but they have minorities in their ads, so that arguement doesn't hold much water. Since most of the models are "beautiful" people and they're only hiring the model types...they're discriminating against the ugly people.

We could do a similar report with any company where "image" is important.

Hooters, any Surf Shop, restaurants, music stores... need I go on?

Take your girl out to eat tonight. Tell me how many ugly waiters and waitresses are working the floor.

I've noticed that at San Francisco's best eateries they don't seem to factor looks into the hiring decision. Last time I ate at Fleur de Ly's one of our 5 or 6 waiters was a 200lb bulldyke.

I've always considered San Francisco to be a little off from the norm. :) But seriously, down here, my waitress is always bed worthy. Waiters, too!

This isn't your average clothing store we're talking about. The driving force behind it is the idea that only beautiful people wear their clothes.

So obviously in A&F's eyes, the one's selling the clothes should fit such a profile.

Every A&F store I've ever been in has nothing but the "beautiful people" working there. That should tell you something.

They're smart. Any publicity is good publicity. They know what they're doing.
