President George W. Bush's job performance rating has slipped to 53% positive, his lowest since the terrorist attacks in 2001, according to a poll of 1,004 likely U.S. voters by Zogby International. His negative rating reached 46%, just under his pre-9/11 unfavorable of 49%:

Only 1,004 people polled? How many millions is the USA's population?

But that is how polls are conducted.

A small percentage sampling is all you need. There's some statistical formula that supports that but I wouldn't know where to find it.

Either that or find himself being an ex-president, as more and more of the citizens' eyes look towards the disastrous state of the economy, instead of fearing for their lives because of "terrorist" attacks. I'm pretty sure at some point it'll be discovered that even 9/11 was sanctioned by the Bush administration.
