What's the deal with AVS?

I see alot of people predicting the end of AVS, but unless I missed something only 2 AVS's have made significant changes. (Sex Key and One Verify)

Have all the AVS's changed their policies and I just missed it?

Would this be a bad time to crank out a bunch of AVS sites?

pr0 07-18-2003 08:24 AM

Yea i got that oneverify letter the other day, i wasn't suprised, atleast they were upfront & let you know exactly what needed to be changed.

mrsexkey 07-18-2003 08:40 AM

A few other AVS's made changes as well. Others will be announcing very soon. The biggest issue with Visa is that they now give out cards to people under 18. So when we associated taking a Visa card with verifying age, they don't want anything to do with it. That is the age issue.

The participating sites gripe is that we are giving access (reselling) the content of other webmasters. So this is not longer allowed as it would reclassify us as IPSP's and force us to charge $750 to each wm to register.

I would still build sites and submit to the various services. You will still get listed in the search engine and our site is still converting just as good after the changes as it was before. You just need to market the content instead of the sites.

The end is nigh

Too much free porn!

I would say hold out on cranking out those AVS sites just yet. ALL AVS will be affected by this change and your right - only a few have made the announcement.

Or you could just crank our the AVS sites and keep all of them within the rules of what Sex Key and One Verify have put forth and you should be ok.

Problem is that a few of the AVS still use a join code that has text in it that is using Banned words and phrases. The largest that comes to mind is Adult Check. So when these AVS finally make the announcement, their webmasters will be busy busy busy changing the code on a lot of sites (what One Verify just did).

I send my avs traffic to sexyavs and nakedpass, I hear they are going to remain free, business as usual.

hm

but with "free" type of avs it different, because it nothing related with age verfication except domain and name.

I mean my good friends - Age Verification AVS

all simple - if surfer going to signup and wish get access to sites - his buying membership from main site, and receive password to protected sites as "free" bonus.

it wroten in terms.

so, any webmaster working with this system - usual advertiser of paysite.

69pornlinks 07-18-2003 10:05 AM

All you have to do is watch the wording. alot of sites will be deleted so the internal traffic will be good. Just watch the wording, tell the surfer "how accessing your site, they will also have access to the 'content area' of ______.

I usually say i'm a affiliate blah,blah.....

Yes, but they will also require changes in wording. There is even a note in sexyavs about it coming soon last I saw. Nakedpass isn't mentioning it yet (but they are both the same company).

Sounds great, how do you guys convert with TGP traffic? :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Thanks Lenny. I answered the question as best as I could. I have been in the industry since mid 1996 and have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Visa since then. NO one will be left untouched.

I would build sites like Flow recommended. Follow the regulations that have come down from us and OneVerify. We use 2 different billing companies and have adopted virtually the same new policies. SO it is just a matter of time before the rest of them adopt the same.

Good luck with your sites.

Ok,

I did a quick search for you and came up with a list of AVS that you should stay away from until they make their announcment about this visa shit. The reason to stay away from them FOR NOW it because the join code they give you has text in it that will need to be changed because it is not in compliance with the new rules and is NOT hosted by them (the html has text in it that can't be change by the AVS).

The list to stay away from adding new sites to (until they change the join html) is as follows:

Adult Check
Adult Sights
Adult Verifier

This list is by no means complete, but it encompasses some of the big players on the AVS side of things. Of course if you are only adding a few sites that you won't mind changing in the future (and they will need to be changed) then I would recommend all three.

Best thing to do is check out some of the new sites just added on the AVS you are planning on using and see if that AVS has the ability to change the code from there end without you needing to jump though hoops to do it.

Some really good ones that are in compliance or can be with zero effort on your part are as follows (not complete):

One Verify
Sexy AVS
Naked Pass
Sex Key
Free Net Pass
Access For Life
Universal Pass
Pro Adult

Again, no where complete but that will get you started off well.

Hope it helps!

Can you post the URL where SExkey changed their terms? I thought they stayed the same?

Drake 07-18-2003 09:06 PM

Check sig for an avs that is unaffected thus far.

Carrie 07-18-2003 09:26 PM

If you're still in the process of building, keep in mind that AdultCheck just upped their premium requirements from 300 pics to 1,000 pics - and the content must be partially exclusive and preferably from their "approved" list of content providers.

Flow 07-18-2003 09:41 PM

Adult Check use to be pretty cool, they were my first. But they have gotten out of hand and kinda suck now.

First, they now require a member to join 4x a year at over $20 a join ($80+ a year for an AVS membership to a bunch of shitty regular sites) and now the stupid shit with premium AVS site requirements. Not to mention, on top of that $80+ a year for regular sites, you have to pay over $20 a month each month to access the premium sites. Crap!

Why anybody would use them exclusively is beyond me, especially when you can no longer say stuff like "Access to over 750,000 sites"
