Are you - or are you NOT - a Christian?
 

Simple question, when someone asks you about religion, do you say you're a Christian or not?

the reason I pick christianity is that the MAJORITY of people in north america proclaim to be christians.

do the people in this industry represent in the same way??

I'm NOT a Christian. - and that's an educated decision as i have a minor in world religions from my Bachlor's degree.

I was actually on my way to being a minister. lol I made the mistake of studying ancient history and other religions. Don't do that if you want to stay a modern day Christian. REALLY stay away from archeology and the actual history of the bible we use today. And PLEASE don't look into how much money religion generates today and who gets it.

Was an altar boy through grade-school. Played pocket pool under the robe during Sunday mass on the altar cuz those girls in sunday school dresses were pretty cool to look at as a pre-teen kid.

Back then I said I was Catholic. Now my answer's just that dumb pocket pool story along with I don't dig on that shit anymore.

I don't think education has anything to do with it - being a Christian (or a Jew or Muslim or follower of any other religion) is a matter of faith - it's a belief, not something that you learn.

It's not something you can prove either way - let's face it, if someone could actually PROVE that there was a resurrection and a life after death, we'd all be Christians wouldn't we?

Note: Regardless of what I personally believe in I would never go to a church that passes the collection plate daily to "build a better church" while the preacher is running around in a new caddy. I'd have to agree with the guy that says porn is more honest.

There's a lot more to being a "Christian" then just saying you are one to spark a conversation. Thats what I hate about "Christians".... they throw that term around so easy, but never live the life.

I was a Youth & Music pastor in a very large "Christian" church for 10 years and grew up in the church and stayed until I was thirty. When I look back I can;t beleive I hung out with such fake, lieing bastards! Even with what I do now... I am more of a "Christian" then 90% of those holy rollers I used to hang out with three times a week when I was a pastor.

You can't be either/or with Christ. If people ask me now if I am a Christian.. I say NO! Even though I was raised that way and went to church and lived in a "Christian" family... I still say NO. It's lifestyle... not a title.

We hold onto religion because we have to believe that something is better out there than the life we lead.

We hold onto religion because we believe its moral foundations are what keep things in working order....dont murder, dont steal, dont covet....

We hold onto religion because we want that "get out of hell card for free" we keep in our back pocket....

I just dont think God cares whether your gay, that you wear makeup if your a women, that you wear a rolex, that you give $$ to his church, that your divorced, yada yada yada.

I went to a Baptist college and I can honestly say that I have a very strong grounding in faith, doctrin, biblical studies and the such. I have spent time learning as much as I can about other religions.

Have faith in a higher power, have faith in yourself, but don't put any faith in a religion.......

I am wiccan, and I chose my pagan lifestyle from many years of research in organized religion, and a long time asking myself what I truly DID believe.. .So instead of trying to find a religion to feed me beliefs, I found out what I believed within myself, then found a belief system that was already in accord with that.

I have zero problems with religious people. My wife believes in God more than anyone I know. I DO have prolems with people that want to put their religion in your face constantly and want it everywhere ingovernment, etc.
