On-top 07-15-2003 11:23 AM

Cash rocks.

Spunky 07-15-2003 11:24 AM

Did he die?

eroswebmaster 07-15-2003 11:25 AM

My cousin Noah is supposed to marry his granddaughter....unless he already has and I haven't heard news of it.

All I know is he hangs with Johnny...watches football with him etc.

JFPdude 07-15-2003 11:34 AM

A few of his songs were written by his cell mate years ago. His cell mate is back in prison again this time for life.

He became godfather to his cell mates son back in 1965 ... A few of the songs his cell mate wrote had to do with cars and fathers being in jail:

A boy named Sue
One piece at a time

There is so many things I could say about the man in black about how he has affected my life it isn't funny.

Daymare 07-15-2003 11:54 AM

lol, I know the singer, but for a split second I thought you launched a new webmaster program called Johnny CASH. hahaha

SykkBoy 07-15-2003 12:38 PM

I worship the God Almighty Johnny Cash

He transcends music categories

Music stores need to add two new sections for the music: one for Johnny Cash and the other for Willie Nelson....they are their own music category.

As much as I love death, evil, satan, butchery, debauchery, screaming, yelling, growling, howling, shouting, etc. in my music, Johnny Cash is just THE MAN.

And for those of you who did not know...the man in black moved on a bit ago...:waaaaahh

Amputate Your Head 07-15-2003 02:11 PM

he's dead?

theWatsonian 07-15-2003 02:23 PM

The man in black kicks ass.

-=HOAX=- 07-15-2003 02:45 PM

Ever feel like a giant dildo...?

His wife died...I'm sorry...

Although its seems the other day that a woman accepted his country music life time achievement award on his behalf because he passed...

I guess the cold medicine and crack for dinner ain't treatin me right...

On-top 07-15-2003 02:49 PM

He's in pretty rough shape...Parkinson's Disease. If you watch his newest video..(the remake of NIN's Hurt) you can see he's not doing too good.

-=HOAX=- 07-15-2003 02:54 PM

Yeah I think he has problems with pneumonia too...

Meth will put you out man...

On-top 07-15-2003 03:00 PM

He's also got a home in Jamaica, so he might be using some Chronic to ease the pain...

Cash is a fighter from way back. He has been hooked on drugs and booze and pain killers, endured 30-plus operations for a broken jaw, and undergone heart surgery. But nothing has stopped him yet. He has recorded more than 70 albums, hosted a TV series and been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Nashville's Songwriter's Hall of Fame--the only performer with that distinction.

Sykk - I wondered why you & my hubby hit it off so well back in the 'Pond days.... must be the Johnny Cash fan club. :thumbsup

I'd never heard much of the man in black until I married Burtros... we got to see him (with the Highway Men) several times... glad to hear someone made an OOPS... we've been dreading hearing this news... he's looked so poorly lately. :(

xxxjay 07-15-2003 03:27 PM

johny cash rulz

Ketadream 07-15-2003 03:42 PM

Cash's rendition of Reznors hurt brings so much more meaning to the song...

Trents angst at women and growing up is NOTHING compared to the things Cash has been through. I used to like the song till i heard Cash's version now I love it.. And for the most part I hate countryish stuff.

Totaly and completly amazing... I think it was the only video I shed a tear over...

Ketadream 07-15-2003 04:39 PM

I think a boy named sue was written by syndey sheldon...
Was he in jail with cash?...

Wait no wasent it Shell Silverstein or something like that...
Same deal though also was a kids book writer

KRL 07-15-2003 04:44 PM

Guess I missed that one on the news.

No Syndey Shelton released the song first ... he is a close personal friend of Johnny Cash.

When Johnny was released Sydney gave all rights to the song back to Johnny Cash who then wrote a contract with the original writer of the song.

The contract stated That the writer of the song had to stay out of Jail and support his family to recieve royalties and commisions on the song. This contract only lasted 3 months when the writer was rearrested and sent back to Jail for another 7 years.

The contract was renegotiated in 1978 when the writer was again released from Jail that contract stayed in place until 1993 when the writer got rearrested in indiana for murder and rape.

Johnny Cash is one of the greatest. It's a real shame that so many people won't even give his music a chance because he's lumped into the "country" genre. Listen to "Live at San Quentin" once and you'll be hooked.

JFPdude 07-15-2003 04:53 PM

Another great that was part of this deal was with Johnny Cash and the writer was Wolfman Jack.

Wolfman Jack was doing time for running a radio station of the coast of california. When the ship he was broadcasting from drifted inward towards the shore and across the american boundaries the authorieties were able to arrest Woflman Jack for his illegal radio station.

Johnny Cash was doing time for drugs.

The writer for Johnny Cash was doing time for auto theft and bringing a minor across state lines for immoral purposes.

Ketadream 07-15-2003 04:57 PM

So syndey was in jail????

He released the song while Johnny was in Jail.

American IV: The Man Comes Around is the only album I've ever shed a tear listening to. Literally. His rendition of The Beatles "In My Life" is gut wrenching and just great. I like it MUCH better than the original.

No one can rip your guts out like The Man. End of story.

I was a bit premature on this one...bow to the power of GFY.
