i am very disapointed in google ...
i dont understand ...
i busted my ass to get good rank on a very popular single word keyword .... got #1 position. I only get 900 hits off it per day? overture says 620k searches per month lol its the kind of thing everyone would search for ... dont understand. wtf? |
what word is it?

no i wont tell you. BTW the page is a PR4 .... regardless, im still not getting the hits i expected from this #1 listing .... its been 12 days now. |
question: you want to hit a bird sitting in a tree, would you throw stones to get it, or would you launch a cruise missle ??

is this one of those "if this doesnt make sense, your not a webmaster" questions? lol are you trying to say alot of little sites get better hits than one big site with #1 spot? confused. |
Getting a high ranking on Google or any other SE is just the first battle.
Then you have to get a decent CTR on your listing to make the effort worthwhile. A couple years ago, I had great SE rankings for some search terms in the online gambling area. The problem was, the SEO guy got me the high rankings my cramming my page title and description with the key words I was trying to get ranked on. So my site description on Google was just a jumble of keywords, NOT the kind of link that says "Click here for free sex ..." or something like that. Even though I was ranked in the top 3 or 4 results for my keywords, I got almost NO clicks because the random keywords did not give the surfer a reason to click on my link. So the trick is to get a good SE ranking while maintaining a site description that will make people want to actually click on it. Good Luck! |

i understand what your saying ... will play with my title and desc. |
overtures results are over inflated

Hush now, don't give the little guy any ideas.
|
must be "sexs"
|
I think u should read first how those overture figures are calculated. I suggest using wordtracker instead, lots of webmasters claim it to be far more accurate.

900 good unique search engine hits for a word is good, should be able to make good sales from that each day :thumbsup
|
900 per day eh?
and you're complaining? I'll buy your site for $10,000. interested? You should be able to make at least $300 per day from that. If not then you SUCK.:321GFY |

Just feed those 900 hits into your 300k TGPs and you are GOLDEN!

Damn Rich, you are one dumb motherfucker

Rich,
The overture inventory will include all searches containing your word or phrase, not just that specific word/phrase. So if you put in "sex" to inventory.overture.com, it will include people searching for anything with the word "sex" in it. You don't have #1 ranking on all of these combinations, just for one. This is why you are only getting 900 hits / day off a keyword that overture has 600k searches for /month. Easy enough? |
Are you at least getting a good ratio?
If your traffic is targeted enough you can still get a lot of signups without that many uniques...........:glugglug |

You really need to mix your keywords up on a page. I have single pages that get top 5 spots for much more than one heavily searched phrase. You have to consider that all of those "lesser searches" really add up! It's kind of futile to focus on only one keyphrase. Good luck.

When I use Google, the front page positions are usually meaningless. There's just as much of a chance of me clicking on the 12th listing as the 1st listing.
With the preview text they've got below the links, that can break a page with a high first page rank. I also don't go from page 1 to 2 to 3, etc... I usually jump all around after page 3. So I'll go from page 3 to 8 or whatever. I'm sure most surfers do these same things. |

It pulls hits from them all, some more than others. |
