Any word from CCBill about the new visa regs?

Has anyone heard anything from CCBill and other sponsors about the new visa regulations?

Mark

Not yet. It may be that their current policies are already taking 1% into account, since MC was already demanding that before Visa did. (Weren't they?)

I agree with gothweb. They have informally mentioned to me that they are well within the current operating guidelines and are very happy with their current service.

I do hope they will be tightening up on the whole cross-sales and "free" trials bullshit, though, if any of their clients are still getting away with it.

Yer, we dont mind either way. I guess it depends on whether they think they can keep under 1% if they keep offering them [cross sells] and alot of people move to them. Personally, we don't use them and i'd like to see em go!

werd ian, couldn't agree more... w/ the current climes looking so bleak for those who want to keep pushing the shadier practices despite recent happenings, i'd really like ccBill to be as far away from that sort of business as possible; keep ccBill clean, lucrative and disturbingly sexy..!

I use cross sells with ccbill and the model i am using is doing great for me... in fact the people that take the cross sale keep rebilling on it and cancel the full membership they bought with it some times before the cross sale... cross sells are good if you do them right... there is no need to sell someone 3 more memberships at $39.95 with a free "30min" trial membership.

To clarify-- I like cross-sales. As long as they are unchecked by default, clearly disclosed, and within a reasonable price.

Yeah... we do cross-sells on most of our sites and do very well with them. OUr total chargeback ratio is .21 since teh say we opened also. When you have good sites that update on a regular basis. Provider what you advertise then you have nothing to worry about. We were told there would be no changes to our cross-sell situation.

Swoit 07-14-2003 09:36 PM

To Clarify: I Also meant cross-sells where they are being abused. Especially where there are ticked cross-sells and they cost more than the original site you're joining!

I actually think they cross sells will probably all drop down to about $1 and big guys will use it as a simple mechanism to water down their volume and keep the CB percentage lower.

Bluemedia,

We are going to make a formal announcement on our position on the Visa situation very soon. At this point, I can say that we do not foresee these new rules becoming an issue for us and CCBill has always quickly addressed any chargeback risk/chargeback issues with our clients as a priority in the highest regard. That said, expect to hear more shortly?

In the meantime, if any of our clients have any immediate questions/concerns, I advise them to contact their sales reps. If anybody would like to speak with me, I make myself available as well over email or ICQ.

I would like to know how EXACTLY visa measures CB ratio? Can you comment Mark?

I have not yet seen this posted publicly but if other billing processor expect this and its VISA rules they must have to tell how the measure this ratio.... right??????

The big one, and I think that it has been posted here before, is # of chargeback?s/# of sales transactions during a month

In the same month? Also, what's this I hear about a 100 chargeback minimum before the 1% rule comes into play?

Goth, rather than trying to answer questions one at a time such as this?as I mentioned before, CCBill is going to make an announcement regarding all of this very soon and we will ensure that any and all questions that our clients have will get answered to their complete satisfaction.

Cool, no problem.
