what are the risks for breast enhancements?

I have a friend and she has talked about enlarging her breasts to a C cup. right now she is a 34B

How many different types are there? Silicone is no longer safe right? What are the risks?

she wants something that looks natural but is afraid of the risks involved and does not want to do it, if it does not look natural enough.

Thanks guys

The larger the implant she gets, the less likely it will look natural. Make SURE you research the doctor. Look at his books of before and afters, ask for at least 4 patients tele #'s (make sure they had the same procedure) and call them! REALLY call them! If possible, ask to meet them and sort of look (without being TOO obvious) at their chest over a cup of joe...Also, call the Plastic Surgeons of America Board and the Cosmetictic Surgeons of America and there is one more that I cannot think of off the top of my head. Call the Better Business Bureau, too.

Possible problems: asymmetrical b00bs, loss or diminished feeling in the nipples, uneven/different sized nipples, stretch marks, ripples (if you go too big). Right NOW, saline is king, but there were some experiments going with soy oil implants, not sure if the FDA approved them yet though. Also, more rarely, infetion of the incision site can occur causing permanent scarring.

More questions? ICQ me! :)

when my girlfriend had them done, she chatted to a lot of the girls who had previously had boob jobs done at this site http://www.implantinfo.com/ they also have before and after pics, faq's etc you might find helpful.

I have been lucky *knock on wood*
One regular 2 hour augmentation and one 7 hour reconstruct after a skiing accident and I still have full sensation!

Loss of sensation in the nipples is the most common drawback.
Big enough of a drawback for me!! *L*
I'd like to get mine lifted (after two kids they tend to stare at the floor just in front of me rather than the horizon), but to do that they'd either need to *move* my nipples (detach, lift, reattach), or leave the nipples up by my collarbones after lifting. LOL
Guess I'm stuck with non-perky boobs ;)

I have researched this subject quite a lot ; breast enhancement is still considered SURGERY and there are serious risks involved like any other major surgery including: infection, rupture,
capsular contracture, hematoma, difficult mammograms and sometimes people have bad reactions to the anasthesia. Read on all the possible risks here http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/breastimplants/birisk.html

Breast implants are also not permanent, plan on having them replaced every 10 years or so (if you are lucky and don't have any complications and or ruptures before then). Implants are a major investment, they don't last forever and need to be replaced, so count on shelling out 5-7k every decade or so.

I also read that implant placement under the muscle hurts
REALLY bad, and the recovery is very painful. You can read more about breast implants here
http://www.implantinfo.com/

I used to want a boob job when I was younger, and my ex-bf used to pressure me ALL THE FUCKEN TIME to get a boob job, saying that I would be perfect if I only had bigger boobs. Well, he can go fuck himself, I just don't think it's worth it to go through MULTIPLE surgeries for bigger boobs, maybe if it's only ONE surgery I would do it, but FUCK going under the knife every 10 years or so.

There also a new "bravo vacuum bra" that is the first device proven medically to enhance cup size, I first heard about it on
E television http://www.extratv.com/dailynews/rxt...01/05_14a.html

O'h yeah, silicone implants are not legal, you can only get silicone if you've lost your boobs due to cancer or have deformed boobs, everyone else can only get saline implants
