The Sex Pistols want to play a concert in Baghdad to show Iraqis the "downside" of democracy.

Singer John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, said the reformed band hoped to set up the concert for early next year.

"I am definite about it," Lydon said. "The red tape is lining up thick and fast, and the more they put up, the bigger the scissors."

Lydon said the Iraqi people should be made to understand the downside of democracy.

"If you are going to offer these people democracy, then offer it to them in their fullest extreme so they fully know what they're walking into," he said.

"Because democracy has a few problems, mate, and the Sex Pistols know that, but at least we can shout out about it, and that might be of some use to them."

The Sex Pistols are currently preparing for a tour of 13 US cities in August and September.

I adore John Lydon, but I just can't think of it as The Sex Pistols without Sid. :( No-talent waste though he may have been.

Nobody under 30 knows who the Sex Pistols are and in Bagdad i wouldnt think they have heard of Micheal Jackson. They certainly dont need anarchy i think they had their riots.

well the Pistols did exist before Sid and he wasn't even plugged in. Rotten is the Pistols and always has been.

One of their PR people, eh? Cool. If he was around for the US tour (and I'm going on my poor memory, which tells me there was only one such tour) find out if he remembers the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa.

naw, he only did the UK. If you know about when the Pistols got arrested for playing God Save The Queen on a boat on the Thames - he was one of the people arrested. There is a clip of it they always show on UK documentries about them and you can see his arm. He points it out all the time..lol.

Sex Pistols were good, they gave the World a different perspective on music - But they made one mistake -
The song God Save the Queen should have been tittled
Sod Gave the Queen.

Also aroung at that time was a band called Temple Tudor - My best mate Guff (Named after his smelly atributes) played guitar for them many times - Guff died 9 years ago in an accident - Great guitarist.

if you think Sid was seriously the most important member you know nothing about them. I will repeat - Rotten is and always was the Sex Pistols.

fuck sid, he was a manequin. as long as john's voice is there, and steve and paul are holding the music together, the bass player is and always has been a terciary piece. whether it be matlock or sid. they never really needed either of them. and i'm pissed off at the pistols because when did their reunion tour a couple years back they had a date scheduled for my city. i had tickets 8 months in advance, and then they cancelled the show two weeks before i was supposed to go see. i'm still furious about that to this day.
