Wish my girlfriend luck
My girlfriend Alana leaves for Las Vegas today to interview for a job as a reporter at the Las Vegas Sun. She's been waiting a long time for an opportunity like this. If you can spare a few kind words of encouragement I'm sure she will appreciate it and so will I :)

She's in the shower and getting ready to leave, so this should be the final thank-you list. SpaceAce Updated list of nice people who wished my girlfriend good luck: eroswebmaster: Thanks, man. amber438, EscortBiz and cezam, thanks for the added encouragement. It's nice that so many people took a minute to reply here. I know my girlfriend appreciated it.
Tala, I will bump this thread to let anyone who is interested know when we find out whether or not she got the job. Today she is meeting with them and tomorrow and Wednesday are the two days of actual interviewing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, I really want her to get this job. She's worked very hard at this for several years and for the last year and a half she has been stuck at a newspaper she really isn't happy at. I don't like to see her struggle and I hope this will be her big break. My clock says exactly 8:50. At this very moment her plane should be leaving the runway at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. SpaceAce |
Knock 'em dead girl! :thumbsup
|
I know that she's en route now but.....good luck...good luck...good luck!!! Kick some Vegas butt and show 'em what a real reporter is made of :)
SpaceAce...you know we're all going to be expecting an update now right? And, by the way, would just like to say that it's real nice to see one partner supporting another like this :) |
I wish her the best of luck. My girlfriend is having fuck-all luck in the job search, so I sortof empathize.
|
Good Luck and Knock em dead.

Lots of luck to you!

I hope you get the job. Vegas is growing so fast. My mother and brother both live there and both deal cards in the Casinos. Vegas seems to have a laid back attitude about everything, including the adult industry.
But it's REALLY hot. Good luck! :thumbsup |
Good Luck !
I wish her all the best :thumbsup Vegas is:thumbsup |
OK, time for an update. First, final thanks:
Mags, DonovanPhillips, kaylacam, TurboAngel, Dirty_DS, mailman, Chris E, Chong, Herb Kornfield and Ross, thanks for the good wishes. I haven't opened this thread since my last post and I didn't see your posts until now. Every little bit of good will helps :) Gothweb, it's been very rough on my girl. She's been trying for quite some time now and this is the first serious nibble she's gotten on a job she is really interested in. Sweetums, thanks for the post. I know some of you are expecting an update and this is it :) My friends and girlfriend know I can be hard to get along with but I am also exceptionally loyal to the people who are important to me. Not supporting her was never an option. OK, time for the update. They have offered her the job. Unfortunately, they are offering pretty crappy pay. The supposed low end of the pay scale in the job listing was $30,000 and now they are saying they will pay her that much and no more. The very first time she spoke with them, she mentioned $30K (he ambushed her and asked about money during their very first phone call without any other discussion) but it was never firm. It is my belief that they are attempting to take advantage of her and lowball her on the salary. I told her to negotiate it up to at least $35,000 but she is afraid to. I don't think she should take the job because any employer that starts off your relationship by offering you the lowest dollar amount they can and claiming there is no room for negotiation is probably not going to treat you very well. If all they are concerned with is getting the cheapest possible employee than I think they are another bush league outfit just like the one she currently works for. The high end of the pay offered by the company was $45,000. If they won't budge from $30K to at least $35K I think she should run but she doesn't want to hear it. She wants us to pack up our entire lives and move thousands of miles away for shitty pay at a company that doesn't want her bad enough to give her so much as a nickel above their minimum salary offer. It's not really the money, though. I don't want to change my entire life for what I think is basically a lateral move for her. If this were the New York Times offering lousy pay, it would be a different story because that is a definite step up and a good move for her career. That would be worthwhile because she would be doing something very good for herself. This is just another job at just another newspaper for just another crummy salary. Maybe some of you can share your thoughts or experiences here to help me convince her that this is not a good idea. SpaceAce |
I dunno, but...
before you pack up and leave, make sure this job will be there for the long-term. And I wouldn't do it unless there was atleast SOME room for a raise. From here to there is a big move. Just make sure you're prepared before you go. BUT CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING THE JOB! :thumbsup |
