Netscape 7.1

Just released, simply amazing :thumbsup now it includes most IE features without the bugs and lotsa stuff not supported by any browser, including Composer, pop-up killer, anti-spam control, mail filters, built in IRC chat and messenger, full integration with ICQ and more stuff I'm probably missing now. Think of a mix between IE, Opera and Mozilla in steroids :thumbsup bye, bye IE it was a pain in the ass while it lasted :1orglaugh

nope, I'm not saying IE will be dead. In fact, it will never will due to Microsoft's monopoly, I'm just saying that finally there's a browser better than any other in any possible way :thumbsup

What kinda bug are you having with IE? Besides a possibilty of someone using java maybe to hack your pc?

Maybe you have shitty hardware if it crashes but IE works fine and netscape used to be loaded with tons of crap and some lame ass side bar with tabs.

Back when it was Netscape 2 & 3 it was 10X better and should have made mail/news and all that seperate.

FlyingIguana 07-13-2003 11:14 PM

fuck netscape

I agree with that, I put it in last week..You can stop pop-ups, cookies and spam..Takes awhile to get used to making web pages tho...Also reads Marquees for a change...

uno 07-14-2003 07:51 AM

Everytime I install the new NS it crashes when i launch it. No clue why.

ServerGenius 07-14-2003 08:50 AM

Is it fast? One of the main reasons why I left netscape back in the
days was because IE was so much faster, loadtimes a lot faster
especially if it required plugins, launching of new browser childs, etc, etc

Might just check it out!

Fast as hell. I used Opera for browsing until last week because it was way faster than IE. But the new NS has some new technology that makes most pages load like if they're in your own disk, specially if you visited them previously (I'd call this like "smart cache", it's great for active content pages like GFY). One thing not mentioned yet is the smart form filler, say goodbye to roboform too! On the down side, the new composer has some bells and whistles which try to get closer to dreamweaver, but they aren't, and the ease of use of the previous composer version (in NS 4.79!) is lost, specially the keyboard shortcuts, now most of the things require the mouse. And as always, all that AOL crap is annoying, but simply uninstall it and you're done :thumbsup

ServerGenius 07-14-2003 04:28 PM

Do the pages now look same in NS as in IE? Or do they still have
weird issues with html stuff that's either not supported or not
working? Is it now fully hahahahahahahahahaha compatible? Does it still fuck
up with spacing of images and tables? For some reason netscape
pixels were different sizes than IE pixels LOL

until now, it all works the same, exception made of custom scrollbars, NS still doesn't recognize them. Maybe I'll find some things in the future, but so far so good. Including i-frames, which until now NS didn't recognize

Cool Thanks, I think I'll give it a go then.....even if it's just to
support their effort against Micro$oft.

DynaMite :thumbsup
