Is this a good SE strategy:

build page(s) featuing a category and/or single model and funnel traffic optimized for that keyword to that page - then send that over to the site that has that content (even though it may only be a subset of all the content types)?

Is it worth the effort to do this sort of microoptimization?

That is also known as a gateway page and is not recommended, unless you like being banned from Google.
