Caught an asswhipping by this guy named Barrera (I think)
had a tune-up fight on HBO for next fight, and went 12 rounds with a powder puff (couldn't knock out a guy he was supposed to knock out in first few rounds)

Kinda faded to the background after that..
but he was colder than ice water in the late 90's (when I first discovered him)

I take it back, Forrest IS a 3-1 favorite.. I would have him about 1.5 / 1 at most. I think there's a good chance that this is just a bad style matchup for him a la Barrera - Jones

Mayorga perhaps isn't the better fighter, he's just got a style that Forrest can't handle

I was at that fight with Rocki, Barrera whooped that azz in a BIG way, ended his career. Marco Antonio Barrera is one bad motherfucker.

Have you tried any online bookmakers? For example, William Hill in the UK will give you slightly better than 3/1 (works out at about 3.06/1) for Judah to win AND Vernon to lose...

Same reason Vernon Forrest completely BATTERED Sugar Shane Mosely in their first match (I mean he really beat the shit out of Sugar Shane Mosely)

and beat him again in the rematch...

Mr. Nicaragua's fighting bull style is just too much for Vernon to deal with, I saw all I needed to see in the first fight...

Ouch... Its funny I was just thinking the other day about the prince..

Kind of sucks I guess because I liked his style.. unorthodox.. but failry effective

the only thing that makes it a toss-up for me is that Vernon was hammering the shit out of him in the 2nd round and in the third until he got caught behind the ear. Also don't forget Ricardo gave him a couple elbows while he was caught in the ropes that hurt him on the way down.

I think if Vernon can use a little discipline and stick that jab out for the first 6, he can break him down and take him out in the 8th or so, but who knows for sure. Mayorga is a wild free swinging SOB who think's he's bulletproof and anything can happen at any time when he's in the ring. It's gonna be an exciting fight either way but I'm gonna give the nod to Forrest to fight an intelligent fight and take him out in the middle rounds.

Judah I think is a given, Chop-Chop's got nothing that can hold him off or trouble him as long as Zab did his work in the gym.

The Prince was caught offguard by Barrera... and completly choked for the rest of the fight... not being able to come up with a plan B

The prince as definately the talent to beat Barrera again... if he can get into his old shape :2 cents:

he was a monstrous puncher, but overrated as a total package. There are 6 or 7 Mexican and American fighters who could have taken him out at any time, but he stayed across the pond as long as he could. He was never quick enough to be successful against the elite with that hands down funky style.

I'll put any amount of money on that fight you care to wager, but it'll never happen because the Prince doesn't want any more. I'll also bet against him if he matches up with Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Acelino Freitas or Joel Casamayor

funny story about this fight: This is just after Marco bounced Naseem's head off of a ringpost.

Naseem had just fought a friend of Marco's and was talking smack all through the fight "who's your daddy?" and shit like that. Naseem started trying some rough tactics with Marco out of desperation, so Marco put him in a full nelson, walked him into a ringpost and shoved his face into it and whispered into his ear "Who's your daddy NOW?"

Marco is my favorite boxer.

Mayorga did the craziest, bravest STUPIDEST thing I've ever done letting Forrest bang him 3 straight times with the right hand, without even trying to block it. I think he was trying to show Forrest that he couldn't be hurt but that third shot almost knocked him the fuck out. Mayorga still won a decision but I think he would have knocked him out in the 4th if he hadn't done that, he was just running Forrest over the first three rounds...

Mayorga made a fan out of me tonight no doubt!

I didnt say THe Prince was the caliber of Roy Jones... I just meant that Nassim had a similar style...

Its easy to judge a fighter after 1 fight... All the greatest fighters have lost once...and came back! Nassim is a fancy boxer... you can be fancy when you are not scared... As soon as you are though you get defensive and become a regular boxer... He just need to get his confidence back

AS for Jones, he's better than Nassim of course... However, I havent seen him fight a great fighter!
John Riuz would get beat by Chris Bird! Chris Bird is a light heavyweight like Roy Jones but got fatter!
