So what are you doing to maintain or expand your web development skills and knowledge?

Seen some questions recently about people wanting to move on from their legacy web development environment....

Its not just for PHP (but why wouldnt you want to learn PHP and upgrade your skills in the process anyway?)....I started using this software about a month ago and so far the switch over is going relatively smoothly...

According to the Zend site...(now this sounds like spam)

- Get everything you need to start developing with PHP now.
- A complete environment for developing, debugging and deploying.
- Available for Windows, Linux and Mac

The only problem with Zend is it seems they don't have a firm grasp of specific adult webmaster needs. For me, the presentation of their http://zend.com site is entirely too corporate.

I learned to chmod +777 all my perl scripts.

I can ftp in binary.

I'v been looking at getting their "Small Business Program".

XHTML seems to be the next thing as far as html is concerned. i still want to learn more java, cgi, php, flash....

Anyone currently using PHP and getting considerable traffic should consider Zend's ZPS software, especially the code accelerator. Increases performance 90-200% in our tests, and reduces server load greatly!!

That and the folks at Zend are great to work with.

As PHP grows, it sucks that more people are starting to distribute applications in compiled format. I understand they want to protect their code, but one of the best things about PHP is the ability to easily hack up the scripts.
